QUARTERFINALS OF OFC BASEBALL TOURNAMENT SET FOR TODAY IN POPLAR BLUFF
The Ozark Foothills Conference baseball tournament is scheduled to begin today.
Three Rivers College, in Poplar Bluff, will be hosting this year’s tournament, featuring seven area schools.
The quarter-finals will be held today, starting off with East Carter vs. Naylor at 10 am, followed by Greenville vs. Clearwater at 12:30 pm, and Neelyville vs. Doniphan at 3 pm.
All 7 games of the tournament, including third place and championship game, will be broadcast live on the Today’s Talk KWOC Facebook page at facebook.com/TodaysTalkKWOC and the River Radio Youtube page at youtube.com/RiverRadioPB.
CROSSING ARM CAMERAS TO BE INSTALLED ON POPLAR BLUFF SCHOOL DISTRICT BUSES
Next week is National School Bus Safety week and officials at the Poplar Bluff School District are taking extra steps to ensure the safety of students.
According to Poplar Bluff School District Transportation Director Jon McKinney, the school district will be installing crossing arm cameras on district school buses over the next few weeks.
McKinney adds that video footage from drivers who pass buses when students are being dropped off or picked up will then be submitted to area authorities.
MISSOURI STATE HIGHWAY PATROL COLLECTING TOYS FOR CHILDREN’S HOSPITALS
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is collecting toys for the sixth Annual Trooper James Bava Toy Drive.
The Toys can be dropped at the Trope E Headquarters, two miles north of Poplar Bluff and will be donated to the St. Louis Children’s Hospital and Mercy Children’s Hospital in Kansas City.
Trooper Bava was 25 years old when he died in the line of duty on August 25th, 2015. His mother started the toy drive in his memory.

CITY OF VAN BUREN TO RECEIVE OVER THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR NEW FACILITY
The city of Van Buren will be receiving over $300,000 to build a new facility.
According to the Delta Regional Authority, the City of Van Buren will use $313,000 to demolish the existing abandoned, flood-damaged public safety facility.
The funds will also be used to construct a new, elevated facility at the same site for fire services and future law enforcement services.
The funds are a part of an over 2.1 million dollar investment from the Delta Regional Authority that will boost economic development and improve the quality of life for Southeast Missouri communities and residents.
US ROUTE 60 IN STODDARD COUNTY TO BE CLOSED OVERNIGHT
A section of U.S. Route 60 in Stoddard County will be closed overnight tonight as contractor crews perform excavation.
Officials say that due to the equipment in use, a closure of both directions of Route 60 will be necessary between Essex and Morehouse, from Route 153 and Route N to Route 114.
Weather permitting, work will take place from midnight to 3 a.m. tonight.
ROUTE AB IN STODDARD COUNTY TO BE REDUCED THIS WEEK FOR PAVEMENT REPAIRS
Route AB in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane early this week as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs.
The work zone will be located from Route 25 to Route N near Bloomfield.
Weather permitting, work will take place Tuesday and Wednesday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
