TEENAGER KILLED IN BUTLER COUNTY CRASH

An area teenager was killed in a wreck Tuesday morning in Butler County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck was located off of Route PP, six miles west of Poplar Bluff.

A 16 year old girl from Ellsinore was driving a vehicle that ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by Butler County Coroner Jim Akers. 

JUVENILE SHOT IN POPLAR BLUFF, FLOWN TO ST. LOUIS HOSPITAL

A Juvenile was flown to a regional hospital in connection to a shooting in Poplar Bluff.

According to Captain David Sutton with the Poplar Bluff Police Department, officers responded to a location on West Vine Street shortly before 6 pm on Tuesday following the report of a shooting.

At the scene officers found a juvenile victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

The juvenile was transported by ambulance to a local hospital before being flown to a St. Louis hospital for further treatment.

The identity and condition of the juvenile were not released.

Captain Sutton tells us that the investigation into the incident is ongoing. 

ONE DEAD FOLLOWING SINGLE VEHICLE CRASH NEAR ELLINGTON

An Ellington woman was found dead following a single vehicle crash Tuesday in Southern Reynolds County.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 76 year old Sharon Lee was driving on Missouri Highway 21, 15 miles south of Ellington, when her vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway, struck multiple trees, and overturned.

Lee was pronounced dead at the scene by Reynolds County Coroner Jeff McSpadden shortly after noon on Tuesday. 

DONIPHAN AND EAST CARTER TO MEET IN FINALS OF 25TH ANNUAL LADY ROYALS CHRISTMAS CLASSIC

A champion will be decided today at the 25th Annual Lady Royals Christmas Classic.

The final has been scheduled for 7:30 pm tonight at Twin Rivers High School in Broseley and will see the Doniphan Donettes take on the East Carter Lady Redbirds.

The Championship finals are not the only game to be played today, as there will also be the consolation championship starting at 3 pm, the 5th place game at 4:30 pm and the 3rd place game beginning at 6 pm.

PERSON IN CUSTODY AFTER THREATENING BUTLER COUNTY SHERIFF ON FACEBOOK

One person has been taken into custody after allegedly threatening a Southeast Missouri Sheriff on Facebook.

According to Butler County Investigator Eddy Holloway, on December 16th, Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs received several threatening messages on Facebook messenger from an anonymous profile.

A search warrant was granted for Facebook records which yielded the name of the person associated with the profile.

On December 20th, Butler County Deputies and investigators with the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested 22 year old Keegan Browning, of Poplar Bluff.

When questioned, Browning admitted to sending the threats.

Browning was lodged in the Butler County Jail and charges of 1st degree felony harassment are being requested. 

POPLAR BLUFF CHEERLEADERS RECEIVE PROCLAMATION FROM PB CITY COUNCIL

The Poplar Bluff City Council recently honored the PBHS Cheerleading squad for their state championship.

On Monday, Mayor Steve Davis and Councilwoman Lisa Parson presented a proclamation to the team in recognition of their 2022 Missouri Cheerleading Coaches Association Class 4 Small Squad State Championship.

This was the second year in a row that Poplar Bluff has won the competition.

AUTOPSY SCHEDULED FOR WEDNESDAY MORNING AFTER BODY FOUND IN BURNING RV

An autopsy will be conducted this morning after a body was located in a burning home.

According to the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department, at midnight Monday morning, the Sheriff’s office received a call of a residence on fire on North Broad Street in Parma.

A RV that was parked next to the home was also burning. While extinguishing the flames, fire personnel located a deceased person inside the RV.

Officials say that investigators from New Madrid County Sheriff’s Office and Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the cause of the fire. 

An autopsy has been scheduled for 11 am this morning.
