NEW MADRID COUNTY CENTRAL WINS 3RD PLACE IN CLASS 4 STATE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

The New Madrid County Eagles weren’t able to play for a state championship this past weekend, but did get a nice consolation prize.

The Eagles defeated Pembroke Hill 64-51 in the Class 4 third place game Saturday in Springfield.

New Madrid County Central fell to the third place game after losing to eventual Class 4 state champion Vashon 48-39 in the state semi-final on Friday.

OPEN ENROLMENT SCHEDULED FOR THIS MONTH FOR POPLAR BLUFF KINDERGARTEN CENTER

Open Enrolment is scheduled for this month at the Poplar Bluff Kindergarten Center.

If you have a child who will be five years old by July 31st, you can get them enrolled for the next school year.

According to officials, open enrollment is set to take place from 9 am to 2 pm on March 29th through March 31st at the 1200 Camp Road campus. There will also be a session available from 4:30 to 7 pm on March 31st

Parents should remember to bring their children’s birth certificate, social security card, proof of residency, and shot records.

TWO ARRESTED IN BUTLER COUNTY ON METH CHARGES

Two Butler County residents were taken into custody last week on felony drug charges.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 30 year old Devini Sansoucie and 28 year old Kreg Atkisson, both of Poplar Bluff, were each arrested Thursday night on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.

Both are also facing a charge of unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

DEADLINE COMING UP TO REGISTER FOR POPLAR BLUFF YOUTH BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL

The deadline is approaching to get your children registered for youth baseball and softball in Poplar Bluff.

According to the Poplar Bluff Parks and Recreation Department, the deadline to register is Friday, March 25th.

PAVEMENT REPAIRS SET FOR TODAY IN BUTLER COUNTY

Route HH in Butler County will be reduced to one lane today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs.

The section of roadway to be reduced is located from Route 142 to Route 53.

According to officials, work is scheduled to take place from 7 am to 2 pm.   

CULVERT REPLACEMENT TO FORCE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF CARTER COUNTY ROAD

Route O in Carter County will be closed today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews replace a culvert under the roadway. 

According to officials, the work zone will be located between County Roads 250 and 251. 

The road will be closed today from approximately 8 am to 5 pm.
