ONE IN CUSTODY IN CONNECTION TO BUTLER COUNTY SHOOTING

Authorities in Butler County say that a man has been taken into custody in connection to a shooting on Tuesday.

One victim received non-life threatening injuries in connection to the shooting, which was located in the area of Highway 53 and Thomas Street.  The victim was transported to an area hospital.

Few details about the incident have been released, but Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs says that a suspect was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon.

The suspect has been identified as 36 year old Kevin Wallace, of Poplar Bluff.

THREE INJURED IN CRASH AFTER VEHICLE RUNS STOP SIGN IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

Three Stoddard County residents were injured in a two vehicle crash Tuesday morning in Southeast Missouri. 

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred when a 73 year old driver allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign and struck another vehicle.

Three people in the second vehicle were injured, with two of them receiving serious injuries. All three were transported to a Cape Girardeau hospital.

No injuries were listed for the driver of the first vehicle. 

NATIONAL DRUG TAKE BACK DAY SET FOR APRIL 30TH

Poplar Bluff residents will have a chance to safely dispose of their unused, unwanted, or expired prescription drugs this week.

The Poplar Bluff Police Department will be participating in National Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 30th from 10 am to 2 pm at the Poplar Bluff Police Station.

Officers in Poplar Bluff will also be handing out medication lock boxes courtesy of Southeast Missouri Behavioral Health.

Numerous area police departments are also participating in the National Drug Take Back Day, including Dexter, Bernie, Malden, and Kennett.

22nd ANNUAL POPLAR BLUFF SCHOOL FOUNDATION GOLF TOURNAMENT SET FOR THIS WEEK

The 22nd Annual Poplar Bluff School Foundation Golf Tournament is coming up at the end of this week.

The four person scramble tournament is scheduled for Friday, April 29th, at Ozark Ridge Golf Course. Tee time will be at noon.

All proceeds from the event will go towards innovative teacher grants and a student scholarship for a PBHS graduate entering the field of education.

PB CHRISTIAN SOCCER CAMP TO BE HELD AT BLACK RIVER SOCCER FIELDS IN POPLAR BLUFF

The 9th Annual PB Christian Soccer Camp will be held in May at the Black River Soccer Complex in Poplar Bluff.

The camp is for students from kindergarten to high school and no experience is necessary. The registration fee is $45 through May 1st, going up to $55 after May 1st. The camp will be held over three days from May 27th to May 29th.

Each participant will receive a shirt, water bottle, and soccer ball. Lunch will also be provided daily.

TRAUMA INFORMED TRAINING TO BE HELD AT THREE RIVERS COLLEGE

Three Rivers College in Poplar Bluff will be hosting a training session on the impacts of trauma in early May.

The Trauma-Informed training is scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. on May 4th, at the Robert W. Plaster Free Enterprise Center on the TRC Poplar Bluff campus.

The training will be conducted by Licensed Clinical Social Worker Carol Williams.

The training will assist participants in learning how to recognize the signs and symptoms of trauma in patients, families, professionals, and a community.
