AREA WOMAN AND TWO FIREFIGHTERS INJURED FOLLOWING A HOUSE FIRE IN POPLAR BLUFF 

An area woman along with two firefighters were injured following a house fire in Poplar Bluff. 

Poplar Bluff Fire Chief Mike Moffitt tells KWOC News, early Monday morning, authorities responded to a structure fire in the 900 block of Cedar Street. 

Two firefighters were able to make entry and rescue a woman inside the burning home. The victim was severely burned from the waist down and was flown to a St. Louis hospital for treatment. 

Chief Moffitt says the two firefighters who rescued the victim were also injured. They were treated for minor burns at a Poplar Bluff hospital and have since been released. 

The State Fire Marshal’s Office has been called in to investigate the fire.

INCOMING STORM SYSTEM BRINGS WITH IT CHANCE OF HEAVY RAINFALL 

An incoming storm system is bringing with it the chance of heavy rainfall. 

According to a Hazardous Weather Outlook issued by the National Weather Service, thunderstorms are possible with increasing rain chances later today and tonight.

Heavy rainfall will be the primary storm related hazard through the period. Weather officials say up to three inches of rain is likely with this storm system, along with isolated flooding being a concern. 

The chances of heavy rain are also expected to continue into Thursday.

JOB FAIR SET FOR TODAY IN POPLAR BLUFF 

A Job Fair has been scheduled for today in Poplar Bluff. 

According to the Butler County Community Resource Council, the Parents Working Committee will host a job fair from 10 am to 2 pm at the Black River Coliseum. 

The free event is open to all job seekers.

POPLAR BLUFF MAN CHARGED ON CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGES MAKES COURT APPREARENCE NEXT MONTH 

Continuing to follow a story we brought you last July, a Poplar Bluff man charged with several counts of child pornography will make a court appearance next month. 

According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, 40 year old Joshua Thomas was arrested in July of 2021, following an investigation by the SEMO Cyber Crimes Task Force.

Officials say that a tip from the National Centers for Missing and Exploited Children led to the execution of a search warrant on Thomas Street. 

Numerous electronic devices were seized during the search. Child pornography was confirmed during an examination of the devices. 

Thomas has been officially charged with 10 counts of class b felony possession of child pornography and one count of class d felony possession of child pornography. 

Thomas will make his initial court appearance on June 6th, and is currently free on $75,000 bond. 

MAN ARRESTED ON MULTIPLE DRUG RELATED CHARGES IN DUNKLIN COUNTY 

Authorities in Dunklin County have arrested an area man on multiple drug related charges. 

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 27 year old Joshua Neighbors, of Kennett, was taken into custody early Sunday morning on felony charges of 1st degree trafficking drugs, resisting arrest, and delivery of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.

Neighbors was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Following his arrest, Neighbors was taken to the Dunklin County Sheriff’s Office.

2022 ARKANSAS PREFERENTIAL PRIMARY ELECTION TO BE HELD TODAY 

Voters across Arkansas will be heading to the polls today. 

The 2022 Arkansas Preferential Primary will be held today with both state and local primary races to be decided. 

According to Arkansas Secretary of State John Thurston, polls close tonight at 7:30 pm. Voters can find their polling location at sos.arkansas.gov.
