KANSAS MAN KILLED IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI MOTORCYCLE WRECK
A Kansas man was killed in a motorcycle wreck Thursday afternoon in Southeast Missouri.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 71 year old Michael Beckham, of Winchester, Kansas, was driving on US Highway 60, near Fremont, when his motorcycle ran off the side of the road and overturned.
Beckham was pronounced dead at the scene by Carter County Coroner Joe Chapman.
COOLER WEATHER OVER THE WEEKEND LEADS TO ANOTHER HEATWAVE NEXT WEEK
Cooler weather is coming this weekend, but another heat wave will follow next week.
According to the National Weather Service, we are expecting highs in the mid-90’s for today in Poplar Bluff, but this weekend high temperatures will drop to around the high-80’s.
This will be a temporary break, as highs will be back to the mid-90’s on Monday and possibly to the triple digits to Tuesday.
Weather officials say this week was the first time Poplar Bluff has experienced triple digit temperature readings since 2013.
POPLAR BLUFF MAN CHARGED WITH STATUTORY SODOMY
An area man is due back in court later this month on a sodomy charge.
Rondriguez Hopkins, of Poplar Bluff, has been charged with felony statutory sodomy or attempted statutory sodomy with a person less than 12 years of age in connection to an alleged incident from June 7th.
According to a probable cause affidavit, a search warrant was served at a location on Karen Drive that resulted in multiple items of evidence being taken.
A warrant for Hopkins was issued on June 8th and served the next day. Hopkins arraignment then followed on June 13th.
No bond has been set in the case and Hopkins is scheduled to appear in court again on June 23rd.
AUTHORITIES IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS ARREST MAN ON RAPE AND THREATENING CHARGES
Authorities in Northeast Arkansas have arrested a homeless man on multiple charges, including rape.
According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, 44 year old Kenny Morrisett was booked on Wednesday on charges of rape and terroristic threatening.
According to a warrant affidavit, Morrisett is accused of sexual abusing an underage female and then threatening to kill another person in connection to the alleged abuse.
Morrisett is being held on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to be in court on July 29th.
JOSH BURSON MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT SET FOR THIS WEEKEND
The 13th Annual Josh Burson Memorial Golf Tournament is set for Saturday at the Ozark Ridge Golf Course in Poplar Bluff.
The 4 man scramble tournament costs $75 per person to enter and tee times will be available at 8 am and 1 pm. The tournament will be followed by a dinner beginning at 6 pm at Holiday Inn. The dinner will also have an auction and raffles.
All proceeds will go to the Josh Burson Memorial Scholarship Fund.

RAYNI DAY MIRACLES MEMORIAL 5K RUN SCHEDULED FOR THIS WEEKEND
Area runners will be flocking to McLane Park in Poplar Bluff this weekend for the Rayni Day Miracles Memorial Run.
The 5k run will be held on Saturday, with registration beginning at 7 am and the race starting at 8 am.
The entry fee is $30 and you can sign up for the run online at Runsignup.com through 8 pm tonight.
MOVIE SHOWING THIS WEEKEND TO RAISE MONEY FOR KIDS IN PUXICO
The Puxico Christmas Toy Drive is hosting a superhero night this weekend.
The event will begin at 5 pm on Saturday at Veteran’s Park in Puxico. There will be games, a bounce house, and some of your children’s favorite superheroes at the park.
There will also be a showing of the movie Shazam beginning at dark. All proceeds from the event will go to the Puxico Christmas Toy Drive.
