PURSUIT REACHES OVER 100 MILES PER HOUR IN STODDARD COUNTY

A vehicle pursuit this week in Stoddard County reached speeds of over 100 miles per hour.

According to authorities, on Sunday a Dexter Police officer entered into a pursuit with a vehicle who failed to yield for a traffic stop on Business Highway 60.

The pursuit continued on to several different roads, before finally coming to a stop on Highway 51. During the pursuit, the suspect’s vehicle reached 101 miles per hour and almost struck multiple vehicles head on.

When the vehicle came to a rest, the male suspect, later identified as Richard Gabriel Shenoskey, of Cedarville, Michigan, exited the vehicle and attempted to flee. He was taken into custody after a Stoddard County Deputy deployed his taser.

Officials say that several empty alcohol containers were found lying in the cabin of the vehicle.

Shenoskey was arrested on multiple charges including resisting arrest, detention, or stop by fleeing and DWI.

He also had an active felony no bond warrant through Michigan.

CLASSES TO BEGIN ON AUGUST 23RD AT TWIN RIVERS

Students in the Twin Rivers School District will be returning to classes in late august.

School officials have released the 2022-2023 school calendar which has the first day of school scheduled for August 23rd and the last day set for May 26th, 2023.

Students will be attending classes from 7:45 am to 3:30 pm on Tuesday through Friday each week.

The calendar includes a total of 147 school days.

MISSOURI STATE HIGHWAY PATROL ENCOURAGES WATER SAFETY

With the fourth of July coming up soon, the Missouri State Highway Patrol is encouraging residents to keep safe and cautious when engaging in activities in the water.

The Highway Patrol recently released a number of safety tips for swimming, boating, and floating, in Missouri’s waterways.

The tips include wearing a life jacket while in and around water, keeping an eye on weather conditions and river levels, and being aware of other transports and boats while operating a water-craft.

The Patrol’s emergency report line is available to anyone who needs help or sees criminal action, and can be contacted by calling 1-800-525-5555.

APPLICATION PERIOD FOR MANAGED DEER HUNTS BEGINS ON FRIDAY 

The application period for managed deer hunts in Missouri will begin this week.

According to the Missouri Department of Conservation, beginning July 1st, deer hunters can apply online through the MDC website for a shot at more than 100 managed deer hunts throughout the state this fall and winter.

The deer hunts will be for archery, muzzleloading, crossbow, and modern firearms from mid-September through mid-January. Some of the hunts will be held specifically for youth or for people with disabilities.

The application period will be from July 1st to July 31st and hunters will be selected by a weighted random drawing.

BUTLER COUNTY ROAD TO BE CLOSED TODAY FOR CULVERT REPLACEMENT

Route HH in Butler County will be closed today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews replace a culvert under the roadway. 

The section of Route HH to be closed is located between County Roads 214 and 342.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.   

BUTLER COUNTY ROAD TO BE CLOSED TODAY FOR CULVERT REPLACEMENT 

Crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation will be closing Route M in New Madrid County beginning today to perform pavement repairs.  

According to officials, work is scheduled to take place from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily through Friday, July 22nd. 

The work zone is located from Route 162 to Route KK.
