ONE DEAD AFTER WRECK ON INTERSTATE 55

An early Saturday morning wreck in New Madrid County has left one person dead.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred when a vehicle, driven by 64 year old Gregory Davies, of Knox, Indiana, pulled into the path of another vehicle on Interstate 55.

Davies was pronounced dead at the scene by New Madrid county Coroner George DeLisle.

No injuries were listed for the driver of the second vehicle. 

VEHICLE LEFT IN REVERSE BACKS OVER WOMAN IN MALDEN

A Malden woman was injured Friday night when a vehicle rolled over her.

According to authorities the vehicle had been left in reverse at a residence on Dorothy Street in Malden when it rolled backwards over a 75 year old woman and struck a parked vehicle.

The woman suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital. 

MAN ARRESTED ON RAPE AND SODOMY WARRANTS IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

Authorities in Southeast Missouri have arrested an area man on rape and sodomy warrants.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 59 year old Johnny Hall, of Boss, was arrested Saturday afternoon in Reynolds County on felony warrants of 1st degree rape or attempted rape and statutory sodomy.

Following the arrest, Hall was held at the Reynolds County Jail. 

NEELYVILLE AWARDED GRANT TO EVALUATE DRINKING WATER SYSTEM

A Southeast Missouri city has been awarded grant money to evaluate the city’s drinking water system.

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has awarded a $37,500 Drinking Water Engineering Report Grant to the city of Neelyville.

Officials say that the city will use the grant to identify drinking water system improvements that will enable the system to continue to operate a water system that meets drinking water quality standards and provide reliable water service.

BUTLER COUNTY ROAD TO BE CLOSED TODAY

Route H in Butler County will be closed today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews replace a culvert under the roadway.  

The section of Route H to be closed is located between County Road 248 and Route HH.

Weather permitting, work will take place today from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  

CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULED FOR THIS WEEK ON FAIR STREET IN POPLAR BLUFF

A Poplar Bluff road will be reduced this week for construction.

According to city officials, Fair Street will be reduced to one lane between Pike Street and Commerce Avenue for water construction.

Fair Street will be reduced between 8 am and 5 pm daily through Thursday, although it is possible that construction may also affect the street next week as well.
