DROUGHT CONDITIONS CONTINUE ACROSS PARTS OF SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
Drought conditions are continuing across parts of Southeast Missouri.
Officials with the National Weather Service in Paducah say the latest drought monitor shows that portions of western Carter and Ripley counties remain in a moderate drought.
The rest of Carter and Ripley Counties, along with Butler, Wayne, Stoddard, and New Madrid Counties are in a slight drought.
TWO FACING FELONY DRUG CHARGES IN NEW MADRID COUNTY
Two people were arrested in New Madrid County on multiple felony drug charges.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 36 year old Hayden Dawson and 27 year old Janie Tindle, both of New Madrid, are facing felony charges of possession of methamphetamine following their arrests on Tuesday.
Officials say that both are also facing a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
DATE SET FOR FALL BUFF UP THE BLUFF
A date has been set for the 2022 Fall Buff up the Bluff event.
The citywide clean up event has been scheduled for Saturday, October 15th.
The Poplar Bluff Leaf Disposal Site will be accepting items from 8 am to 3:30 pm. The site is located southeast of Twin Towers and signs will be posted. Proof of city residency is required.
To arrange for curbside pickup of items for residents 65 years old and older you must call 573-686-8622 between the dates of October 10th and October 13th.

STATE OFFICIALS ENCOURAGING PARENTS TO MAKE SURE THEIR CHILDREN ARE BUCKLED UP
Missouri state officials are encouraging parents to make sure their children are buckled up for Child Passenger Safety Week.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, troopers issued citations to 1,185 drivers who failed to secure children less than eight years old in a child restraint/booster seat in 2021.
Troopers also issued citations to an additional 184 drivers who failed to secure a child 80 pounds or more or over 4 foot 9 inches tall in a seat belt in 2021.
Child Passenger Safety Week runs through September 24th.

BUTLER COUNTY COMMUNITY OUTREACH DAY SCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER
The Butler County Community Outreach Coalition is planning a big event for September.
Community Outreach Day has been scheduled for 10 am to 2 pm on Friday, September 30th at First United Methodist Church in Poplar Bluff.
Community Outreach Day is described as a one stop event where individuals and families in need can access free services.

FEED AND SEED EVENT SET FOR TODAY IN POPLAR BLUFF
New Day Ministry in Poplar Bluff will be hosting a feed and seed event today.
The event is from 3 to 5 pm and is first come, first serve, with packs limited to one per household.
