POPLAR BLUFF SWIMMER FINISHES IN 15TH PLACE DURING STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
A Poplar Bluff swimmer placed in the top 15 at the state swimming championships.
Poplar Bluff’s Carson Todd finished in 15th place Friday in the 50 Freestyle during the MSHSAA Class 1 State Swimming Championship at St. Peters.
Todd also set new school records in the 50 and 100 freestyle. New school records were also set by the Mules in the 200 medley relay as well as by Poplar Bluff’s Owen McDaniel in the 100 breaststroke.
UNITED GOSPEL RESCUE MISSION TO HOST ANNUAL THANKSGIVING DINNER
The United Gospel Rescue Mission is providing their annual Thanksgiving Meal on November 23rd.
The meal will be held at around noon on Thanksgiving at the Rescue Mission in Poplar Bluff. If you can’t make it to the rescue mission you can also call ahead and have a meal delivered to you by contacting 573-785-4683.
The Rescue Mission is in need of volunteers to help prepare meals leading up to the event. On Thanksgiving, the rescue mission will also need assistance to prepare, serve, and deliver the meals. They are also accepting donations of desserts to be used in the meals.

Reverend Gregory Kirk with the United Gospel Rescue Mission wants to thank the people of Poplar Bluff and Butler County for their generosity, because without them, the Rescue Mission would not be able to hold this event every year.
TEEN FLOWN FROM SCENE OF A CRASH NEAR BLOOMFIELD
A teenager was flown from the scene of a crash over the weekend near Bloomfield.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 16 year old male was driving on Route Y Saturday afternoon when his vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a culvert.
The juvenile suffered serious injuries and was flown to a St. Louis hospital.
ELLINGTON MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN SINGLE VEHICLE CRASH
A single vehicle crash on Friday left an Ellington man with serious injuries.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 72 year old Howard Reed was driving on Missouri Highway 49, near Williamsville, when his vehicle ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree.
Reed received serious injuries and was transported by air to a St. Louis hospital.
DONIPHAN STREET TO BE CLOSED TODAY FOR UTILITY WORK
A Doniphan street is being closed today for utility work.
According to Doniphan City Officials, utility crews are closing the 700 block of Apricot today for the project beginning at 8 am.
No timetable was given for when the area would reopen and motorists are asked to watch for street signs and choose alternate routes if needed.
ROAD PROJECT TO CAUSE DELAYS ON ROUTE 61
U.S. Route 61 in New Madrid County will be reduced to one lane early this week as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform shoulder repairs.
The section of roadway being reduced is located from Route HH to Route W near Matthews.
Weather permitting, work will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and tomorrow.
