OVER 600 PEOPLE LOST POWER DURING WEDNESDAY STORMS

Wednesday’s severe storm system resulted in power outages for numerous people across Southeast Missouri.

At one point Wednesday afternoon, the Ozark Border Electric Cooperative outage map showed over 500 customers without power in Stoddard County, while at least 170 customers did not have power in Dunklin County.

Power outages were also reported in Ellsinore.

According to the National Weather Service, wind speeds of around 60 miles per hour were measured Wednesday in Southeast Missouri.

TWO ARRESTED IN POPLAR BLUFF FOR DISTRIBUTION OF METHAMPHETAMINE

An early Wednesday morning traffic stop has resulted in the arrest of two people on distribution charges.

According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, an officer conducted the traffic stop shortly before 3 am Wednesday, on Highway 53.

During the stop, 44 year old Amy Bittle and 34 year old Jamie Tripp, both of Sikeston, were both taken into custody on charges of distribution of methamphetamine.

Following their arrests, both were logged in the Butler County Jail.

KIWANIS PANCAKE DAY SCHEDULED FOR MARCH 4TH

The Kiwanis Club of Poplar Bluff will be hosting the 85th Annual Pancake Day next month.

The event will be held on Saturday, March 4th from 6 am to noon at the Poplar Bluff Junior High Cafeteria.

Tickets for the event are $6 and get you sausage, a drink, and all you can eat pancakes. Carry out will also be available.

In addition, there will be a pancake eating competition beginning at 10 am.

The event is being held to benefit the Bacon Park playground project.

DEADLINE APPROACHING TO APPLY FOR POPLAR BLUFF SOCCER LEAGUE

The registration deadline is coming up for the 2023 Poplar Bluff Optimist Soccer League.

Registrations for youth in kindergarten through sixth grades will be accepted through February 24th and officials say the registration fee is $25.

Forms are available at the Poplar Bluff Parks and Recreation Office. You can also register your children online at PBOSL.com.

SHOULDER REPAIRS SCHEDULED FOR THE REST OF THIS WEEK IN STODDARD COUNTY

Route ZZ in Stoddard County will be reduced today and tomorrow as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform shoulder repairs.

The section of roadway to be reduced is located from Route H to County Road 642.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m each day.

BRIDGE REPAIRS TO CONTINUE TODAY IN THE CAMPBELL AREA

Route 53 in Dunklin County will again be reduced to one lane in the Campbell area so Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform bridge repairs.

According to MoDOT officials, crews will be working on Route 53 today between County Road 215 and County Road 211.

Weather permitting, the work zone will be in place from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
