POPLAR BLUFF POM SQUAD TO PERFORM IN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TODAY

The Poplar Bluff Pom Squad is gearing up to compete for a national title.

The Pom Squad will be performing today in the National Dance Alliance National Championship in Orlando, Florida.

According to school officials, Poplar Bluff is scheduled to take the stage at 3:51 PM.

EAST CARTER AND CLARKTON TO PLAY FOR SPOTS IN STATE BASKETBALL SEMI-FINALS

Multiple Southeast Missouri basketball teams will be playing this weekend for chances at a spot in the state final four.

The East Carter Lady Redbirds will be playing in the Class 2 State Quarterfinal at noon on Saturday against the New Haven Shamrocks.

Also on Saturday, the Class 3 girls State Quarterfinal will see Portageville taking on West County.

Coming up later today on the Boys side, Clarkton will be playing South Iron at 6 pm in the Class 1 State Quarterfinal. That game is scheduled to begin at 6 pm. The Class 3 State Quarterfinal matchup between New Madrid County Central and West County is also scheduled for tonight.

The Poplar Bluff Mules will also be continuing their district campaign tonight, traveling up to Kirkwood to take on the Kirkwood Pioneers in the Class 6, District 1 Semifinals. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm.

TWO TEENAGERS FLOWN TO ST. LOUIS HOSPITAL FOLLOWING CRASH NEAR ELLINGTON

Three teenagers were injured in a Thursday afternoon crash near Ellington.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 18 year old Timothy James, of Piedmont, was driving on Highway HH in Reynolds County, when his vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.

James, and a 16 year old passenger in the vehicle, were seriously injured and flown to a St. Louis area hospital.

A 17 year old passenger in the vehicle received minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to a Poplar Bluff hospital.

MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN MOTORCYCLE WRECK IN RIPLEY COUNTY

A Puxico man was injured this week during a motorcycle wreck in Ripley County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 39 year old James Hemby was riding the motorcycle on US Highway 160 near the Oregon and Ripley County line when his vehicle overturned, struck a tree, and then struck a fence.

Hemby, who was reportedly not wearing a safety device, was flown to a Jonesboro hospital with serious injuries.

INVESTIGATION INTO MISSING MOTORCYCLES LEADS TO TWO ARRESTS IN RANDOLPH COUNTY

An investigation into missing motorcycles led to the arrest of two people in Northeast Arkansas.

According to Randolph County Sheriff Kevin Bell, on Wednesday, deputies received a report that a wanted person, identified as Eric Martin, was staying at an area residence and was trying to sell two motorcycles.

Deputies contacted a resident in the area that was known to own two motorcycles and that person reported that theirs were missing.

A search of the area was conducted, which led deputies to the stolen motorcycles but Martin had fled the area. Deputies were later informed that Martin was at a residence in Pocahontas with another subject, identified as Kimberly Ferretta.

A search warrant was conducted at the residence, which resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia as well as the arrests of Martin and Ferretta on charges of possession of meth and paraphernalia.

Martin is also facing a charge of theft of property.

CENTER STAGE TO PERFORM BROADWAY CLASSIC AT TINNIN FINE ARTS CENTER

An area performance company will be showcasing a Broadway classic this month at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center.

Center Stage will be performing Cinderella throughout the month of March, with the first show scheduled for 7 pm tonight.

Tickets are available for $10 at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center and at Three Rivers Students Accounts. Any tickets that remain will also be available at the door the night of the event.

Center Stage is a blended theater company of students, college employees, and community members.

RODEO RETURNS TO BLACK RIVER COLISEUM TONIGHT

Rodeo action is returning tonight to Poplar Bluff.

The Countryside Chevrolet Championship Rodeo will start at 7 pm both tonight and Saturday night at Black River Coliseum.

There will be multiple PRCA Pro Rodeo events including bronc busting, bull riding, and barrel racing.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. each night and children two years old and under get in for free.

Tickets are on sale at the Black River Coliseum Box Office and online through Ticketmaster.

KIWANIS PANCAKE DAY SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY

The Kiwanis Club of Poplar Bluff will be hosting the 85th Annual Pancake Day this weekend.

The event will be held from 6 am to noon on Saturday at the Poplar Bluff Junior High Cafeteria.

Tickets for the event are $6 and get you sausage, a drink, and all you can eat pancakes. Carry out will also be available.

In addition, there will be a pancake eating competition beginning at 10 am.

The event is being held to benefit the Bacon Park playground project.
