OFC SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT TO BEGIN TODAY 

The Ozark Foothills Conference softball tournament is scheduled to begin today. 

The tournament, featuring seven area schools, will start today with three games at McLane Park in Poplar Bluff. 

Today’s action will start with Twin Rivers taking on Naylor, and Neelyville facing East Carter, both at 4:30 pm. The final game of the quarterfinals will be a matchup between Clearwater and Greenville at 6 pm. 

Top seeded Doniphan received a bye to the Semi-finals where they will play the Clearwater-Greenville winner on Wednesday.

23rd ANNUAL POPLAR BLUFF SCHOOL FOUNDATION GOLF TOURNAMENT SET FOR THIS MONTH 

The 23rd Annual Poplar Bluff School Foundation Golf Tournament is coming up at the end of this month. 

The four person scramble tournament is scheduled for Friday, April 28th, at Ozark Ridge Golf Course. Tee time will be at noon. 

All proceeds from the event will go towards innovative teacher grants outside of the classroom budget, and a student scholarship for a PBHS graduate entering the field of education.

CONTRACTS AWARDED FOR ROAD PROJECTS IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI 

Multiple Southeast Missouri roadways will be getting improvements in the future. 

The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded contracts for Southeast District projects during its regular meeting. 

An over 8.5 million dollar contract was awarded for pavement improvements on multiple Routes in Dunklin, Pemiscot, and New Madrid Counties. 

An over 1.8 million dollar contract was awarded for sign installations at various locations on Interstates 55, 57, and 155 in Southeast Missouri. 

An over 1.7 million dollar contract will go towards bridge railing replacements in various locations. 

Additional information, including timelines and impacts to traffic, will be released prior to the start of construction.


ONE DEAD, ONE IN CUSTODY IN CONNECTION TO NORTHEAST ARKANSAS SHOOTING 

Authorities in Northeast Arkansas are investigating a fatal shooting from the weekend.

According to the Pocahontas Police Department, officers responded to a residence on Park Street around 4 am Sunday, where they found a white male deceased inside the home with gunshot wounds. 

Few details about the incident have been released, but authorities say that a suspect was taken into custody. 

The identity of the victim and suspect has not yet been released. The incident is still under investigation. 


MISSOURI DEPARTMENT OF CONSERVATION TO RELEASE UPDATED HUNTING AND FISHING REGULATIONS 

The Missouri Department of Conservation has announced that updated booklets for hunting and fishing regulations will be available this month. 

Officials say that hunters, trappers, anglers, and others can get free copies of its updated booklets on 2023 Spring Turkey Hunting Regulations and Information, Summary of Missouri Hunting and Trapping Regulations, Summary of Missouri Fishing Regulations, and the Wildlife Code of Missouri. 

The booklets will be available at MDC regional offices, MDC nature centers, and other places where permits are sold. 

The booklet information will also be available at mdc.mo.gov.


2ND ANNUAL WAKE FOUNDATION GALA SCHEDULED FOR APRIL 28TH

A date has been announced for the 2nd Annual Wake Foundation Gala in Poplar Bluff. 

The event has been scheduled for 5 pm on Friday, April 28th at the Black River Coliseum. 

There will be a live and silent auction, raffles, live music, and more. 

All proceeds from the event go to benefit veteran programs.
