DROUGHT ALERT ISSUED FOR MISSOURI

Governor Parson signed an executive alert earlier this week declaring a drought alert in the state.

According to the drought monitor released Thursday morning, many areas of Southeast Missouri are currently listed as abnormally dry. Portions of Central and Northeast Missouri are in an extreme drought.

A Drought Alert, part of Missouri’s Drought Plan, is the first step for the Governor to direct state agencies to work together to provide as many resources and as much assistance as possible.

The Executive Order directs the Director of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources to activate Missouri's Drought Assessment Committee and requests that all Missouri and federal agencies participate as needed.

The Committee's first meeting will be held on June 7th at 2 p.m.

PUBLIC MEETING SCHEDULED TO DISCUSS CAPACITY IMPROVEMENTS FOR US HIGHWAY 412

A Public Meeting has been scheduled for this month to discuss improvements to an important roadway in the Missouri Bootheel.

The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 15th to discuss U.S. Route 412 in Dunklin County and potential alternatives for future capacity improvements.

The meeting will be held in the gym of Senath-Hornersville High School.

In 2022, MoDOT launched the Environmental Study to plan for future capacity improvements examining the 20-mile section of U.S. 412 extending from Route AC near the Arkansas border to just east of Route Y near Kennett.

During the upcoming meeting, the project team will share potential alternatives and receive additional public input. MoDOT plans to present the preferred alternative for capacity improvements to the public later this year.
