RIVER RADIO BLOOD DRIVE IN POPLAR BLUFF SET FOR FRIDAY

Reservations are now being accepted for the next River Radio Blood Drive in Poplar Bluff.

The Blood Drive has been scheduled for noon to 5 pm this Friday, July 7th, at the Larry Hillis Dodge Showroom on North Westwood Boulevard.

Anyone wanting to donate can call 1-800 Red Cross or visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter the code RiverRadio to schedule an appointment.

If you donate during the blood drive, you will receive a commemorative St. Louis Cardinals Blood Drive T-Shirt, while supplies last.

STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON OVER SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

Strong to severe weather will be possible today in Southeast Missouri.

According to a Hazardous Weather Outlook issued by the National Weather Service, a good chance of thunderstorms is forecast for southeast Missouri this afternoon and evening.

A few strong to severe storms with mainly a damaging wind threat will be possible, with locally heavy rainfall and lightning also being primary concerns.

FORMER ARMY COMBAT ENGINEER NAMED AS STODDARD COUNTY ASSESSOR

A former Sergeant in the United States Army has been named as the new assessor for Stoddard County.

Missouri Governor Michael Parson has announced that Bloomfield’s Jacob Clary has been appointed to the position, replacing Dan Creg.

Clary currently serves as a Field Appraiser for the Stoddard County Assessor's Office.

He previously served in the United States Army as a Combat Engineer and achieved the rank of Sergeant before being honorably discharged in 2021.

SIKESTON AUTHORITIES INVESTIGATING ARSON

Authorities in Sikeston are investigating an arson.

Shortly after 11 am on Tuesday, crews responded to a heavy fire in a residence on Third Street in Sikeston.

Captain Derick Wheetley with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety tells us that crews remained on scene for almost two hours and the residence received heavy fire and smoke damage.

Wheetley says that the cause was determined to be arson and an investigation is being conducted by the Sikeston Fire Marshal Office.

WOMAN FLOWN FROM THE SCENE OF A CRASH IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

A woman was flown from the scene of a crash late Monday night in Reynolds County.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 23 year old Breanna Turner, of Ellington, was driving on Missouri Highway 21 when she failed to yield, causing another vehicle to strike her in the driver’s side door.

Turner suffered serious injuries in the crash and was transported by air to a St. Louis hospital.

A juvenile passenger in the second vehicle received minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to a Poplar Bluff hospital.

KENNETT MAN FACING FELONY DRUG CHARGE

A Kennett man is facing a felony drug charge following his arrest on Tuesday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 46 year old Robert Culpepper was arrested in Pemiscot County on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine.

Culpepper is also facing a misdemeanor charge of unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and was transported to the Pemiscot County Jail following the arrest.
