SUSPECT IN CUSTODY IN CONNECTION TO QULIN BANK ROBBERY
A suspect is in custody following a bank robbery Thursday morning in Butler County.
Sheriff Mark Dobbs tells KWOC News that the Southern Bank in Qulin was robbed at gunpoint at approximately 9:10 am Thursday.
The suspect was taken into custody later Thursday without incident.
Sheriff Dobbs added that no injuries were reported in connection to the robbery. The identity of the suspect and any possible charges have not been released. The amount of money that was taken from the bank was also not released.
Sheriff Dobbs says that he is grateful for the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Missouri State Highway Patrol who assisted with the investigation.
SALES TAX TO BE WAIVED IN ALL CITIES, COUNTIES, AND SPECIAL TAX DISTRICTS FOR MISSOURI SALES TAX HOLIDAY
The dates have been announced for Missouri’s annual back to school sales tax holiday.
According to the Missouri Department of Revenue, the tax holiday will run from 12:01 am on Friday, August 4th through midnight on Sunday, August 6th.
During this time, certain back-to-school purchases such as school supplies, computers, clothing and other qualifying items as defined by statute are exempt from all state and local sales tax.
Eligible items include clothing that does not have a taxable value of more than $100 and personal computers that do not cost more than $1,500, among other items.
Something that is new for this year, is that in addition to the state sales tax, local sales tax will also be waived in all cities, counties and special tax districts.

THREE RIVERS COLLEGE TO HOST BATTLE OF THE BULLS THIS WEEKEND
Rodeo action will be returning to Poplar Bluff this weekend.
The Three Rivers College Rodeo Team is hosting the Battle of the Bulls on July 22nd at Ray Clinton Park.
The event will begin at 7 pm and there will also be activities for kids and food trucks available at the park.
The cost to attend is $10 for adults and $5 for kids ages eight and under.

WAYNE COUNTY HEALTH CENTER HOSTING CHILDREN’S HEALTH AND SAFETY FAIR
The Wayne County Health Center will be hosting a Children’s Health and Safety Fair on August 4th.
The free event will be from 9 am to 3 pm at the Health Center in Greenville. There will be vendors, information about fire and water safety, activities, and free immunizations.
Free life jackets will also be provided while supplies last.

DEADLINE TO REGISTER FOR FALL YOUTH BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL IN POPLAR BLUFF IS TODAY
Now is the time to register your children for fall baseball and softball in Poplar Bluff.
According to the Poplar Bluff Parks and Recreation office, today is the final day for boys and girls ages three to 13 to be registered for the youth fall baseball and softball seasons.
Players will be placed in leagues based on age.
Registration forms are available at the Poplar Bluff Parks and Recreation office on North Second Street and online at pbparks.org.
FINAL POPLAR BLUFF TRAIL RUN OF 2023 SET FOR SEPTEMBER
The final Poplar Bluff trail run of 2023 will be coming up at the end of September.
The 2nd Annual Mark Twain Hardwoods eight mile run is scheduled for 9 am on Saturday, September 30th.
The run will begin at the Victor Horse Trailhead near County Road 410.
