BLOOMFIELD MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER IN WOMAN’S DEATH

A Bloomfield man is facing a murder charge in connection to the death of a woman in Stoddard County.

According to Stoddard County Coroner Brent Stidham, on November 13th, Stoddard County 911 received an emergency call regarding an unresponsive female.

At the scene, deputies found 83 year old Nadine Teeters deceased.

Further investigation was conducted by the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol which resulted in the arrest of 59 year old Jerry Teeters, of Bloomfield.

Stidham says that on February 23rd, Stoddard County Prosecuting Attorney Sawyer Smith charged Teeters with felony murder 2nd degree and domestic assault.

The charges are in addition to the previously filed misdemeanor of elder abuse.

Teeters remains in custody at the Stoddard County Jail on a no bond warrant.

ONE DEAD FOLLOWING SINGLE VEHICLE CRASH NEAR BERNIE

A Campbell man has died from injuries he received in a weekend crash in Stoddard County.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 73 year old Christopher Lenko was driving on Highway 25 on Saturday when his vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a ditch.

Lenko was transported to a Dexter hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

MULTIPLE AREA BASKETBALL TEAMS CELEBRATING DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIPS

It was the District Championship weekend this past weekend for Classes 1, 2, and 3 in Southeast Missouri.

In Class 1, the Clarkton, Richland, and South Iron Boys Basketball teams won their district championships in District 1, 2, and 3, respectively.

In Class 2, South Pemiscot won the boys championship for District 1, while Puxico took home the District 3 title. For the girls, Portageville won District 1 while Neelyville are the champions of District 2.

Moving to Class 3, New Madrid County Central are the district champions for District 1 and Charleston won the title in District 2.

In the Girls Class 3, District 1, the Twin Rivers Lady Royals are bringing home their third district championship in the last four seasons.

The State Sectionals will be held tonight for the Girls beginning at 6 pm as Portageville takes on Neelyville and Twin Rivers battles Saxony-Lutheran.

POPLAR BLUFF MAN INJURED IN SINGLE VEHICLE CRASH

One man was injured in a single vehicle crash Friday night.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 44 year old Theodore Liszewski, of Poplar Bluff, was driving on Route W when his vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a tree.

The driver suffered serious injuries in the crash and was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital.

CULVERT REPLACEMENT TO CAUSE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF SOUTHEAST MISSOURI ROADWAY

Route AF in Stoddard County will be reduced beginning today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform shoulder repairs.

The section of roadway being reduced is located from County Road 605 to County Road 624 near Dexter.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through Thursday.

CULVERT REPLACEMENT TO CAUSE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF SOUTHEAST MISSOURI ROADWAY

Route A in Pemiscot County will be closed this week as Missouri Department of Transportation crews replace a culvert under the roadway.

The work zone is located from Route EE to County Road 283 near Wardell.

Weather permitting, work will take place today through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. During the project, the road will be open to local traffic only.
