MISSOURI GOVERNOR TO BE IN POPLAR BLUFF TODAY FOR CEREMONIAL SIGNING OF BUDGET BILL

Missouri Governor Mike Parson will be in Poplar Bluff today.

Parson will be appearing this afternoon for a ceremonial signing of House Bill 4, which provided for $150 million in the Fiscal Year 2025 Budget for improvements to U.S. Highway 67 in Butler County.

RIPLEY COUNTY FAIR SET FOR THIS WEEK

The 2024 Ripley County Fair will kick off this week.

Officials say that the fair will be held this year from today through Saturday at the Fairgrounds, south of Doniphan.

Multiple activities are planned for the four day event, including a beauty pageant, loggers relay, carnival, rodeo, truck pull, and more.

COMPETITIVE LOCAL RACES IN DUNKLIN COUNTY

Our series on competitive local races that will be decided during the primary election next week continues today as we look to Dunklin County.

There are two Republican races that will be decided on Tuesday. Aaron Waynick is challenging Nick Darter for the Sheriff nomination and James Powell will face Larry Young for the Coroner nomination.

There are no competitive local races for Democratic nominations in Dunklin County.

REGISTRATION OPEN FOR ADULT FALL SOFTBALL LEAGUE IN POPLAR BLUFF

Registration is now open for the adult fall softball league in Poplar Bluff.

Officials with Poplar Bluff Parks and Recreation say that there will be a men's church league, women’s league, and a coed league.

Team registrations are being accepted through August 2nd and there will be a 10 game season with tournament play.

INTERSTATE IMPROVEMENTS SCHEDULED FOR TODAY IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

Northbound Interstate 55 in New Madrid County will be reduced to one lane with a 10-foot width restriction today so contractor crews can mill the roadway.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, the section of roadway is located from mile marker 54.6 to mile marker 56 near Matthews.

Weather permitting, work will take place today through 6 p.m.

SEAL COAT OPERATIONS TO CAUSE DELAYS THIS WEEK IN CARTER COUNTY

Missouri Department of Transportation crews will be making driving surface improvements this week on Route W in Carter County.

The work zone is located from Route 60 to Business 60 in Van Buren. A 12-foot width restriction will be in place.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. both today and tomorrow.
