ONE DEAD FOLLOWING SINGLE VEHICLE CRASH IN CLAY COUNTY

A Corning man has died following a single vehicle crash in Northeast Arkansas.

According to the Arkansas State Police, 49 year old Shane Potter was driving on Highway 135, in rural Clay County, when his vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a tree.

The crash occurred shortly after 8 pm Tuesday night.

Officials say that Potter was killed in the wreck.

The 72nd Annual Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo is underway.

One of the biggest names in country music, Warren Zeiders, headlined night one last night, bringing country music and rodeo fans from across the region to Southeast Missouri.

Rodeo action will continue tonight in addition to Rhett Walker taking the stage, followed by Ludacris on Friday, and Shane Smith and the Saints on Saturday.

CALDWELL CREEK COVE REOPENED AT WAPPAPELLO LAKE

An area cove has reopened following an investigation into an algae bloom.

According to the Wappapello Lake U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Caldwell Creek Cove is available again for area residents.

The cove was recently closed as a precaution because of an algae bloom. Officials say that recent water tests have confirmed that the cove is safe for public use.

Visitors are asked to report anything that appears unsafe or unusual to the Wappapello Lake project office at 573-222-8562.

SENIOR HEALTH FAIR SCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER IN POPLAR BLUFF

A health fair for area residents ages 50 and up will be held this fall in Poplar Bluff.

The 27th Annual free Senior Health Fair from the Butler County Community Resource Council and AmeriCorps Seniors, has been scheduled for 10 am to 2 pm on Tuesday, September 24th at the Twin Towers in Poplar Bluff.

There will be multiple services available, including health screenings, vaccinations, community resource information, and more.

STRIPING OPERATIONS TO CAUSE DELAYS THIS MONTH ON US HIGHWAY 67

U.S. Route 67 in St. Francois, Madison and Wayne Counties will be reduced to one lane this month as construction crews perform striping operations.  This will be a moving operation with intermittent lane restrictions.

Crews will be striping from the St. Francois/Jefferson County line to the Wayne/Butler County line.     

Weather permitting, work will take place through Friday, August 30th from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.

SOUTHEAST MISSOURI ROAD TO BE CLOSED THROUGH NOVEMBER FOR BRIDGE REPLACEMENT

Route K in Pemiscot County will be closed for multiple months as contractor crews perform a bridge replacement over Main Ditch District No. 8 near Hayti.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, the bridge is located between County Road 255 and County Road 261.

Officials say that work is underway on the project with completion anticipated by Monday, November 11.
