DONIPHAN MAN CONVICTED OF SEXUAL EXPLOITATION OF A MINOR

A Doniphan man is facing up to three decades in prison following his conviction on a sexual exploitation charge.

According to the United States Attorney’s Office, 52 year old Rayford Evans, of Doniphan, was found guilty Tuesday of attempted sexual exploitation of a minor.

Evans is accused of using his cell phone to record a juvenile who was in a bathroom.

Officials say that Evans will be sentenced later this year and the charge carries a penalty of 15 to 30 years in prison.

SOUTHEAST MISSOURI SCHOOL TO BE OUT FOR THE REST OF THIS WEEK DUE TO ILLNESS

Widespread illness has forced the cancellation of classes at one Southeast Missouri school.

According to a post on the Clarkton Reindeer facebook page, Clarkton Schools have been cancelled for the rest of this week due to very low numbers of students and teachers on campus and the rise of sickness.

For this week, students will work on AMI work and should check Google Classroom.

VOTING UNDERWAY TO ELECT MEMBERS OF THE BUTLER COUNTY EXTENSION COUNCIL

Now is the time to make your voice heard on who you want to sit on the University of Missouri Butler County Extension Council.

Officials say that six people are running for four two year terms on the council.

Incumbent Toni Stoner is being joined by Cindy Bosch, Amber Herren, Terri McCormick, Tabitha Parsons, and Corey Reynolds.

You can vote at the Butler County Extension Office or on the Butler County Extension website.

BUTLER COUNTY ROAD TO BE CLOSED TODAY IN THE NEELYVILLE AREA

Route EE in Butler County will be closed today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews replace a culvert under the roadway.

The section of roadway being closed is located from County Road 267 to County Road 265 near Neelyville.

Work is scheduled to take place today from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

DEXTER ROTARY CLUB TO HOST CHILI DAY TODAY

The Dexter Rotary Club is hosting a Chili Day today.

The event is scheduled for 11 am to 6 pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dexter. In addition to chili, there will also be soup, drinks, and desserts.

The cost is $10 and tickets can be purchased at the door or the Dexter Chamber of Commerce Office.

Proceeds from the event will go to multiple area charities, including Harty House, Stoddard County Gospel Mission, Rotary Scholarships, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

POPLAR BLUFF WOMAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY ON METH DELIVERY CHARGE

A Poplar Bluff woman was taken into custody earlier this week in Wayne County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 66 year old Theresa Bentley was arrested Tuesday afternoon on a felony charge of delivery of a controlled substance - methamphetamine.

Following the arrest, Bentley was held at the Wayne County Jail.
