SEVERE WEATHER POSSIBLE WITH UPCOMING STORM SYSTEM 

A line of storms crossing the area on Sunday is bringing with it the possibility of severe weather. 

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, there is the potential for a line of severe storms to produce large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes as it moves across the area Sunday afternoon into the evening hours. 

Officials say that winds could gust up to 35 miles per hour ahead of the storms. 

Most areas have a chance of seeing a half inch or more rain Saturday, although officials added that flooding concerns are low.


MARINE CORPS LEAGUE OF POPLAR BLUFF TO HOST CORNHOLE TOURNAMENT FUNDRAISER 

The Marine Corps League of Poplar Bluff will be hosting a fundraising Cornhole Tournament this weekend. 

The tournament is scheduled for Saturday at the Elks Lodge on Highway 67 North. 

The entry fee is $20 per team with sign-ups beginning at 11 am. The tournament will start at 1 pm. 

In addition to cornhole, there will also be food, a 50/50 drawing, and an airmail challenge.

OPEN HOUSE SCHEDULED AT WAPPAPELLO LAKE FOR EARLY APRIL 

Area residents will be able to learn about Wappapello Lake and the work the US Army Corps of Engineers does at an upcoming open house. 

The event has been scheduled for 10 am to noon on Saturday, April 5th at the Bill Emerson Memorial Visitor Center in Wappapello.

LADY RAIDERS KICK OFF NJCAA TOURNAMENT CAMPAIGN TODAY 

It will be an evening start for the Lady Raiders today in the NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Basketball Championship in Casper, Wyoming.  

Three Rivers College earned the 6 seed for the tournament and will take on the 11 seed Hutchinson College at 5:45 pm this afternoon in the second round of the tournament. 

If Three Rivers picks up the win, they will then advance to the national quarterfinals to take on the 3 seed Northwest Florida State at 5:45 pm on Saturday. 

The tournament will be broadcast live at NJCAA.org.


BLOOD DRIVE SCHEDULED FOR TODAY AT POPLAR BLUFF HIGH SCHOOL

Area residents will have a chance to help save lives during a blood drive today in Poplar Bluff. 

A Blood Drive will be held from 8 am to 2 pm this afternoon at the Poplar Bluff High School Auxiliary Gym.

DATE SET FOR ANNUAL KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS SIDE BY SIDE POKER RUN 

The Poplar Bluff Knights of Columbus are preparing for their annual side by side poker run this spring. 

The event has been scheduled for Saturday, May 31st, beginning at 10 am. The ride will start and end at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Grand Avenue in Poplar Bluff. 

The event is open for side by sides and open air jeeps only and drivers must have a valid driver’s license.
