WOMAN CAUGHT WITH METH IN BUTLER COUNTY
A woman is facing a charge after she was allegedly caught with methamphetamine.
According to Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs, on Saturday a deputy observed 43 year old Cynthia Penn, of Poplar Bluff, looking towards the top of the jail outside the building.
While the deputy was talking to Penn he heard an object repeatedly hitting the awnings over the jail windows and then saw a pair of toenail clippers tied to a string land on the ground.
The deputy says that based on his experience, he had reason to believe that Penn was waiting to send contraband back to an inmate. Penn was taken into custody and found to be in possession of a bag containing methamphetamine.
While searching a cell inside the jail, a corrections officer found two patches on a wall that hid large holes leading to the outside of the building. Numerous items that had been prohibited were also found inside the cell.
Penn was booked for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Two inmates, 37 year old Douglas Coats and 33 year old Kenneth Koch, are facing charges of property damage to jail property in connection to the incident.
