WAYNE COUNTY MAN SENTENCED ON ASSAULT AND ARMED CRIMINAL ACTION CHARGES
A Wayne County man has been sentenced in connection to a 2014 shooting.
According to Missouri Case Net Jonathan Elliott was sentenced earlier this week to 20 years in the department of corrections on charges of 1st degree assault and armed criminal action.
The charges stem from an incident where Elliott allegedly shot two men during an altercation in February of 2014.
JACKSON WOMAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN BUTLER COUNTY ON DRUG CHARGES
Authorities say a Jackson woman was taken into custody shortly after 1 am Thursday morning in Butler County.
Sergeant Clark Parrott with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tells KWOC News that 34 year old Mary Mylonas was arrested on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Mylonas is also facing a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated – drugs.
POPLAR BLUFF HOMECOMING PARADE TO BE HELD THIS AFTERNOON
Tonight is the annual Homecoming game for the Poplar Bluff Mules football team and that means it is also time for the annual homecoming parade.
The parade is scheduled to begin at 1 pm this afternoon in the parking lot of the Black River Coliseum and will go through Downtown Poplar Bluff.
The Mules will be playing Hillsboro High School tonight and you can listen live on Today’s Talk 93.3 FM and 930 AM KWOC. The pregame will start at 6:15 tonight with kickoff at 7.
ESSEX MAN ARRESTED ON MULTIPLE FELONY CHARGES
An Essex man is facing multiple felony charges following his arrest early Thursday morning.
According to Sergeant Clark Parrott with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 24 year old Robert Arnold was arrested in Butler County on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
BLOOMFIELD WOMAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK
A Bloomfield woman was flown to a Cape Girardeau hospital with serious injuries following a single vehicle wreck Thursday morning.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 30 year old Misty Robey was ejected from her vehicle after the vehicle travelled off of US 60 near Sikeston and overturned.
Robey was allegedly not wearing a safety device at the time of the wreck.
LOCAL CHURCH GIVES TO POPLAR BLUFF JUNIOR HIGH BAND
A local church has volunteered to help the Poplar Bluff Junior High School band.
Fellowship General Baptist Church recently oversaw the installation of new shelving in the band’s storage room as a service project for its Sunday School class.
Band Director Stephen Winters tells KWOC News that the church supplied the lumber along with the manpower for the project.
