ONE PERSON SHOT WEDNESDAY NIGHT IN POPLAR BLUFF
Poplar Bluff Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Wednesday night.
According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, a non-fatal shooting occurred in the parking lot at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
The identity and condition of the victim were not released.
Edward Scores, of Poplar Bluff, was arrested at 7:30 pm and is in custody on charges of 1st degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.
MEETING TO BE HELD TODAY TO DISCUSS HIRING OF NEW POPLAR BLUFF SCHOOLS SUPERINTENDENT
Poplar Bluff Schools Superintendent Chris Hon tells KWOC News that a meeting has been scheduled for today to get public input into the hiring of a new school superintendent.
The focus group meeting will be held by the Missouri School Boards Association this evening at 6:15 pm in the Kay Porter Theatre.
Hon says the association is looking for what qualities the public desires in a new superintendent.
TWIN SPRINGS BAPTIST CHURCH ANNOUNCES DATE FOR THEIR FIRST ANNUAL FALL FESTIVAL
Twin Springs Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff has announced they will be hosting their First Annual Fall Festival this month.
The free event will be held at the church from 4 to 7 pm on October 24th.
There will be a bounce house, games, entertainment, and food for those who attend.
BLOOMFIELD MAN ARRESTED ON DRUG WARRANT
A Bloomfield man is in custody following his arrest on a drug warrant.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 25 year old Zachary Mitchell was recently arrested on a warrant for possession of a controlled substance.
Mitchell’s bond was set at $15,000 cash and he remained in jail as of this morning.
DEXTER WOMAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK
A Dexter woman was injured Wednesday morning in a single vehicle wreck near Bloomfield.
Sergeant Clark Parrott with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tells KWOC News that 56 year old Kathy Durbin’s vehicle ran off the side of Highway 25, overturned, and struck several small trees.
Durbin was taken to a Dexter hospital with serious injuries.
NAME ANNOUNCED FOR NEW CLASSROOM BUILDING AT THREE RIVERS COLLEGE
Three Rivers College has announced a name for the new classroom building.
Naming rights to the new “Robert W. Plaster Free Enterprise Center” were secured by the Robert W. Plaster Foundation, a charitable organization in Lebanon, Mo., in exchange for a seven-figure donation that will be used toward the cost of the building.
The donation was recently accepted by the college’s Board of Trustees.
The building will also be the home of Three Rivers’ business program.
MODOT ANNOUNCES UPCOMING BRIDGE REPLACEMENT PROJECT
The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced an upcoming bridge replacement project in Dunklin County.
The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission is planning to replace a bridge on Route HH located approximately one mile east of the intersection between Route HH and Route 153.
The project involves replacing the bridge over Main Ditch with a double box culvert.
Construction could begin as early as spring 2016. As construction is underway, Route HH will be closed to through traffic in the vicinity of the bridge.
