ONE IN CUSTODY IN CONNECTION TO FATAL HIT AND RUN IN POPLAR BLUFFA Poplar Bluff teenager has died from injuries she received in an alleged hit and run incident Wednesday evening.

Deputy Chief Donnie Trout with the Poplar Bluff Police Department tells KWOC News that the girl was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of PP Highway and Maud Street. The vehicle then left the scene.

The teenager, a 13 year old Heavenly Hafford, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following an investigation, officers arrested 42 year old Randel Sparks, of Poplar Bluff. Sparks was lodged in the Butler County Justice Center on charges of leaving the scene of an accident and tampering with physical evidence.

 

WASHINGTON WOMAN IN CUSTODY IN STODDARD COUNTY ON DRUG WARRANT A Washington woman is in custody in Stoddard County on a drug warrant.

According to the Stoddard County Sheriff's Department, 28 year old Heather Beekly of Camano Island, Washington, was recently arrested on a warrant for possession of a controlled substance.

Her bond was set at $7,500.

 

OVER THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS IN COMPUTER COMPONENTS AWARDED TO PB TECHNICAL CAREER CENTER Students at the Poplar Bluff Technical Career Center recently got hand on experience with building computers thanks to a grant from the Poplar Bluff Public School Foundation.

The mini-grant for $3,300 worth of computer components was approved last month by the Foundation's board.

The components were built into 14 working computers by students in the computer maintenance class. The computers then went to upgrade the basic skills lab at the school.

 

HAYTI MAN ARRESTED FOR ALLEGED THREATENING EMPLOYEES AT KENNETT BUSINESS Authorities say a Hayti man has been taken into custody following alleged threats at an area business.

According to the Kennett Police Department, a customer had reportedly threatened employees at the Kennett Wal-Mart and then left the property.

An investigation into the incident resulted in the arrest of 23 year old Byron Norris.

Police say Norris was arrested for making a terroristic threat and is being held in the Dunklin County Justice Center pending the filing of formal charges by the Dunklin County Prosecutor's Office.

 

CLARKTON WOMAN SUFFERS SERIOUS INJURIES IN TWO VEHICLE WRECK A Clarkton woman was flown to an area hospital with serious injuries after a two vehicle wreck in Dunklin County.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that the wreck occurred Wednesday morning on US Highway 62, two miles east of Campbell.

A vehicle driven by 65 year old Joyce Eberle allegedly turned into the path of a freightliner and the two vehicles collided, causing the freightliner to overturn.

Eberle suffered serious injuries in the wreck. No injuries were listed for the driver of the freightliner.

 

TWO POPLAR BLUFF HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS CHOSEN FOR ALL-STATE CHOIR Two seniors at Poplar Bluff High School have been selected for the All-State Choir.

Mathew Pickard and Christian Cmehil-Warn were chosen for the choir last month at Cape Central High School.

The All-State Choir will perform on Saturday, January 30th, at the Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach.
