TWO VEHICLE WRECK NEAR CAMPBELL RESULTS IN ONE DEATH AND FIVE INJURIESOne person has died, while five others were injured, following a two vehicle wreck Saturday night.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 24 year old Austin Pruitt, of Piggott, Arkansas, was driving on US Highway 62 near Campbell, when he reportedly crossed the center line and struck a vehicle.

A passenger in Pruitt’s vehicle, 23 year old Harley Clifford, of Pollard, Arkansas, was killed in the wreck.

Pruitt, along with four people in the second vehicle, suffered serious injuries and were taken to area hospitals.

 

TWO MEN ARRESTED ON METH AND HEROIN CHARGES IN POPLAR BLUFF Two Poplar Bluff men were arrested Sunday evening in Butler County on meth and heroin related charges.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 24 year old Kendrick McCain was arrested shortly before 8 pm on charges of possession of a controlled substance – heroin, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

Less than an hour later, authorities arrested 35 year old Cody Marks on charges of distribution of a controlled substance – heroin, possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and hindering prosecution.

Officials have not said if the two arrests were connected.

 

ONE SERIOUSLY INJURED IN WRECK INVOLVING A TRACTOR IN BUTLER COUNTY A Poplar Bluff man has serious injuries in connection to a wreck involving a tractor Sunday morning.

According to authorities, 57 year old Michael Moore was driving the tractor on US Highway 67 in Butler County when he was struck from behind by a vehicle, causing the tractor to overturn.

Moore was seriously injured and taken to a Poplar Bluff hospital. No injuries were listed for the driver of the other vehicle.

 

PAVEMENT REPAIRS TO CAUSE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF BUTLER COUNTY ROAD Route N in Butler County will be closed this week so Missouri Department of Transportation crews can perform pavement repairs.

The work zone is located from Route 51 to County Road 214.

The road is scheduled to be closed today through Thursday, June 29th from 6 am to 6 pm each day.

 

TODAY IS THE FINAL DAY FOR THE FEMA DISASTER RECOVERY CENTER IN POPLAR BLUFF Today is the final day for the Disaster Recovery Center in Poplar Bluff.

The center will be open from 9 am to 7 pm at the Butler County Health Department and is offering in-person support to individuals and businesses in any of the 27 counties included in the Missouri federal disaster declaration for flooding and severe storms that occurred between April 28th and May 11th.

Recovery specialists from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the U.S. Small Business Administration will be at the center to discuss assistance and to help anyone who needs information or assistance in filing an application.

FEMA is also reminding Missouri renters who experienced losses caused by the flooding and severe storms between that they may be eligible for disaster recovery assistance as well.

TWO ARRESTED ON DRUG WARRANTS IN STODDARD COUNTY Two men were arrested over the weekend in Stoddard County on drug warrants.

Officials with the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department tell KWOC News that 42 year old James Brown, of Oran, was arrested on a warrant for delivery of a controlled substance and 28 year old Michael Meador, of Bell City, was arrested on a warrant for possession of a controlled substance.

Officials did not say if the arrests were connected to each other.

The bond for each man was set at $25,000, cash only.

 

TWELVE INJURED IN NEW MADRID COUNTY VAN CRASH Twelve people were injured, including several children , when a van crashed Saturday morning in New Madrid County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred on Interstate 55 near Portageville when the van’s rear left tire blew out, causing it to run off the side of the road and overturn.

Three people in the vehicle suffered serious injuries in the wreck, while two had moderate injuries. Seven others received minor injuries.

They were all taken to an area hospital.

 

RIPLEY COUNTY ROAD TO BE CLOSED TODAY AND TOMORROW Route C in Ripley County will be closed today and tomorrow so Missouri Department of Transportation crews can perform pavement repairs.

The section of roadway to be affected is located from Route 160 to the Carter County line.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 8 am to 6 pm each day. The work zone will be open to local traffic only.
