MAN FOUND DEAD IN STODDARD COUNTY

A man was found dead over the weekend in Stoddard County.

According to authorities, Joshua Monroe, of Dexter, was found dead near his residence on Sunday.

Few details were available, but an investigation into the death has been started.

IDENTITIES RELEASED OF TWO PEOPLE INVOLVED IN POSSIBLE MURDER SUICIDE

Updating a story we brought to you last week, authorities in Northeast Arkansas have released the identities of two people that were involved in a possible murder/suicide.

According to the Paragould Police Department, on September 25th officers responded to a call in the Darling Street area in reference to a suicide. At the scene, officers located a deceased male, identified as 60 year old Gallie Charles Jr., of Paragould. Charles had what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A witness on scene said that Charles had stated that he had killed his ex-wife just prior to shooting himself.

59 year old Cathy Charles, also of Paragould, was found dead a short time later at a Paragould business.

Officials say that both bodies have been sent to the Arkansas Crime Lab and autopsy results are pending.

BUTLER COUNTY CORONER APPOINTED TO MISSOURI STATE BOARD

Two Poplar Bluff residents have been appointed to state boards.

On Friday, Missouri Governor Mike Parson announced that he has appointed Butler County Coroner Andy Moore to the State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors.

In addition to his role as Coroner, Moore is also the owner of Moore Funeral Service in Poplar Bluff and has nearly twenty years of service in the funeral industry.

Parson also announced Friday that Robert Whelan was appointed to the Missouri State Board of Accountancy.

Whelan is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Financial Planner with 40 years of accounting experience. He owns his own practice in Poplar Bluff.

TWO INJURED, ONE SERIOUSLY, IN RIPLEY COUNTY WRECK

Two people were injured, one seriously, in a wreck over the weekend in Ripley County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 24 year old Daniel Capetillo, of Doniphan, was driving on County Road N-8 Saturday morning when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck another vehicle.

The driver of the second vehicle, 73 year old Truman Moore, of Corning, was seriously injured in the wreck and transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital. Capetillo received minor injuries.

WILLIAMSVILLE MAN FACING METH CHARGE

Authorities in Wayne County have arrested a Williamsville man on a felony meth charge.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 30 year old Harold Kelsoe was taken into custody Saturday afternoon on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.

He is also facing charges of driving while revoked and unlawfully operating an ATV on the highway.

Following the arrest, Kelsoe was held at the Wayne County Jail.

POPLAR BLUFF MAN ARRESTED ON MULTIPLE FELONY CHARGES

An area resident was taken into custody Friday night in New Madrid County on multiple felony charges.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 53 year old Donald Hiles, of Poplar Bluff, was arrested on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

Officials say Hiles was held at the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Office.

PAVEMENT REPAIRS TO CAUSE CLOSURE OF STODDARD AND DUNKLIN COUNTY ROAD TODAY

Route MM in Dunklin and Stoddard Counties will be closed today and tomorrow so crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation can perform pavement repairs

The section of roadway to be closed is located from County Road 102 to Route U.

Work is scheduled to take place from 8 am to 4 pm both days.
