FRIDAY AT THE BUTLER COUNTY FAIR
The annual Beauty Pageant is one of the headline events for tonight at the Butler County Fair.
The Lil Mister & Miss Butler County Fair pageant will begin at 6 pm at the Black River Coliseum.
The big show at Ray Clinton Park tonight featuring the International Miniature Rodeo, Leeza Edmundson, and the John D. Hale band will also begin at 6 pm. Also on the schedule for tonight is the Truck and Tractor Pull at 7 pm.

IDENTITY RELEASED OF SUSPECT IN NEW MADRID COUNTY HOSTAGE INCIDENT
Authorities have released the identities of two people who died earlier this week in connection to a hostage incident in New Madrid County.
According to the Cape Girardeau and Bollinger County Major Case Squad, 35 year old Brian Clemons, of Cape Girardeau, was found dead Wednesday afternoon in a rural Cape Girardeau County residence. Officials say that foul play was suspected.
A male suspect, identified as 38 year old Frinbrinzo Boyd, was located later Wednesday at a hotel in Marston. Officials say the suspect had a female hostage with him.
After authorities attempted to negotiate with the man, Boyd committed suicide. The female hostage was unharmed.
FISK FALL FESTIVAL TO BE HELD THIS WEEKEND
The 22nd Annual Fisk Fall Festival is scheduled for this weekend.
The event on Saturday and will feature multiple attractions including games, food, music and drawings for door prizes.
The parade will also be held on Saturday, beginning at 10 am.
SOUTHEAST MISSOURI MAN ARRESTED ON CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGE
Authorities in Pemiscot County have arrested a Hayti man on a child pornography charge.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 38 year old Raymond Lindsey was taken into custody Thursday afternoon on a charge of felony possession of child pornography.
Following the arrest, Lindsey was held at the Pemiscot County Jail.
TWO ARRESTED ON METH CHARGES IN WAYNE COUNTY
Two Piedmont residents were taken into custody last night in Wayne County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 36 year old Elizabeth LaChance and 29 year old Daniel Evenstad were each arrested on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.
Officials say LaChance also had warrants out of Poplar Bluff, Butler County, and Wayne County while Evenstad had a warrant out of Wayne County.
THREE RIVERS COLLEGE OPENS NOMINATIONS FOR DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI AWARD
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2019 Three Rivers College Distinguished Alumni Award.
College officials say that the award recognizes the accomplishments and achievements of Three Rivers College graduates and former students.
Nominees will be judged on the merits of their personal and professional achievements. A committee drawn from College employees and the Three Rivers Endowment Trust will choose the winner.
Nominations can be submitted by going to trcc.edu/distinguished. The deadline for nominations is November 14th.
The award will be given at a recognition reception held next spring.
BROSELEY MAN FACING DRUG AND WEAPON CHARGES
An area man was taken into custody yesterday on drug and weapon charges.
According to authorities, 25 year old Steven Hardcastle, of Broseley, was arrested Thursday night on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine and four counts of felony unlawful use of a weapon.
Hardcastle is also facing charges of possession of marijuana - less than 10 grams and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
