STUDENT DIAGNOSED WITH HEPATITIS A IN BUTLER COUNTY
Health officials in Butler County say that an area student has been diagnosed with Hepatitis A.
Officials with the Butler County Health Department tell KWOC News that a child, who attends Poplar Bluff Senior High, has been diagnosed with the virus and is receiving medical treatment from a health care provider.
Officials say that the risk of student to student transmission is low and the Poplar Bluff R-1 School District’s Nursing Department has no reason to suspect that anyone else has been compromised by the virus.
As a preventative measure, all common spaces of the school facility have been disinfected by custodial staff.
TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO SYNTHETIC DRUG ARREST IN KENNETT
A Kennett resident was taken into custody earlier this week on a drug charge.
According to the Kennett Police Department, Tuesday afternoon officers found an undisclosed amount of synthetic marijuana during a traffic stop.
26 year old Haley Flood, of Kennett, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute.
Flood was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center pending the filing of formal charges by the Dunklin County Prosecutor’s office.
GREAT CENTRAL U.S. SHAKEOUT SCHEDULED FOR THIS MORNING
Millions of people all across the central United States will be participating in the Great Central U.S. Shakeout Earthquake Drill this morning.
The drill is scheduled for 10:18 a.m. and officials say the goal is to get everyone prepared for a possible major earthquake.

FAFSA FRENZY EVENT SCHEDULED TODAY AT THREE RIVERS COLLEGE
An event has been scheduled for today to help students and their families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
FAFSA Frenzy will be held from 4 to 6 pm at the Poplar Bluff campus of Three Rivers College.
Officials say the event is part of a statewide effort organized by the Missouri Department of Higher Education and is open to all high school seniors, current college students, and adults interested in attending college.
APPLICATIONS FOR THE TWIN RIVERS EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAM TO BE ACCEPTED TODAY
An event has been scheduled for this evening for parents in the Twin Rivers School District who want to enroll their children in the Early Childhood Program.
Parents can apply in person for the program beginning at 5:30 pm today at the Twin Rivers High School Cafeteria.
The program will begin in January for children three to five years old. Classes will be available at Qulin and Fisk.

The regularly scheduled monthly meeting of the Poplar Bluff Board of Education is set to begin tonight at 7 pm.
The meeting will be held in the administrative building.
MODOT CREWS TO BE IN STODDARD COUNTY TODAY
Route 25 in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane both today and tomorrow as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform edge rut repairs.
The section of roadway to be reduced is located from Business 60 to the City of Bloomfield.
Weather permitting, work will take place both today and tomorrow from 7 am to 3:30 pm each day.
