TRACTOR FALLS ON AND KILLS MAN NEAR DONIPHAN

An area man has died following an accident involving a tractor in the Doniphan area.

According to authorities, the incident occurred Thursday when a tractor fell on the man.

The man’s identity was not available.

RIVER RADIO LIGHTED CHRISTMAS PARADE SET FOR DECEMBER 7TH

Parade lights will be shining bright in Downtown Poplar Bluff this December for the 2018 River Radio Lighted Christmas Parade.

Entries are now being accepted for the parade, which is scheduled for 6:30 pm on Friday, December 7th. Entry forms are available at River Radio as well as on our Facebook page and website.

The parade route this year will run from Highway 142 at McDonalds through downtown Poplar Bluff before looping back and ending at the Black River Coliseum.

TODAY IS THE 2ND ANNUAL BUCKLE UP PHONE DOWN CHALLENGE DAY

An event has been scheduled for today in Poplar Bluff for the 2nd annual Missouri Department of Transportation Buckle Up Phone Down Challenge Day.

MoDOT will have a booth set up at the Poplar Bluff Wal-Mart from 11 am to 3 pm encouraging Missourians to sign the pledge to buckle up every trip and put their phones down while driving.

TWO EARTHQUAKES RECORDED IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI ON THURSDAY

The Great Central U.S. Shakeout was on Thursday and Mother Nature decided to get involved as well.

Two earthquakes were recorded Thursday in Southeast Missouri.

The first earthquake was recorded at 4:11 am Thursday morning, just under four miles southwest of Caruthersville. The earthquake had a magnitude of 2.5.

A weaker 2.1 magnitude quake was recorded at 9:08 pm Thursday night. This earthquake was centered around 9 miles east of Malden.

CORNING HARVEST FESTIVAL SCHEDULED FOR LATER THIS MONTH

The Corning Harvest Festival is scheduled for later this month.

The festival will be held on Saturday, October 27th at Wynn Park. There will be multiple exhibits, including arts and crafts, an antique car show, and antique machinery.

There will also be a 5k-run and live entertainment. Admission to the festival is free.

POPLAR BLUFF MAN ARRESTED ON METH CHARGE

Authorities in Butler County say that an area man was taken into custody yesterday on a meth charge.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 33 year old Cody Hill, of Poplar Bluff, was arrested Thursday afternoon on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.

Hill is also facing a charge of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
