NEELYVILLE MAN DEAD FOLLOWING SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK

A Neelyville man died Sunday night in a single vehicle wreck. 

Butler County Coroner Andy Moore tells KWOC News that 63 year old Donald Teague was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck on Highway 67, around eight miles south of Poplar Bluff. 

The wreck occurred shortly before 10 pm Sunday night when Teague lost control of his vehicle and ran off the side of the road and into a field, causing the vehicle to overturn several times. 


OVER TWO INCHES OF RAIN FORCAST FOR POPLAR BLUFF THROUGH TOMORROW

An incoming weather system is expected to bring heavy rains and possible thunderstorms to Southeast Missouri. 

According to the National Weather Service, the rains late Tuesday through Wednesday night will likely set the stage for the possibility of area flooding mid to late week, as rounds of widespread showers and a few thunderstorms are expected, with multiple possible periods of heavy rainfall Thursday night through Saturday night. 

Weather officials say that over two inches of rainfall is forecast for most of Southeast Missouri through Wednesday. 

The flooding concern will increase with each round of heavy rainfall, culminating with the cold frontal passage Saturday night. A few strong storms also cannot be ruled out for Saturday.


PEDESTRIAN HIT BY VEHICLE IN BUTLER COUNTY

A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle over the weekend in Butler County. 

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 25 year old Adam Fleetwood, of Poplar Bluff, was struck by a vehicle on Business 67 shortly before 7:30 pm Saturday night. 

Fleetwood was seriously injured and transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital. No injuries were listed for the driver of the vehicle. 


MAN SUFFERS GUNSHOT WOULD DURING INCIDENT IN SIKESTON

A man suffered a gunshot would during an incident Monday in Sikeston. 

According to authorities, an officer was at a Sikeston area hospital when a man with a gunshot wound to the leg entered the emergency room. 

After an interview with the victim, a Sikeston man was taken into custody. 

The names of the victim and suspect were not released.   


EUREKA POLICE ARREST FUGITIVE WHO WALKED AWAY FROM WORK DETAIL

Updating a story we brought to you last week, authorities in Eureka, Missouri say they have arrested a fugitive who walked away from a work detail in Southeast Missouri. 

According to the Eureka Police Department, 22 year old Jacob Martin was recently taken into custody by police officers after a short foot pursuit. 

The Bollinger County Sheriff’s Office tells KWOC News that on February 13th, the Potosi State Prison had a crew of inmates on work detail near Patton when Martin walked away from the site. 


WOMAN ARRESTED FOR VANDALISM AT SIKESTON CEMETARY

Authorities in Sikeston have arrested a woman following a report of vandalism at an area cemetery. 

According to the Sikeston Department of Public Safety, On February 15th, officers responded to the Sikeston City Cemetery where a witness reported they had seen a woman knocking over headstones. 

Officers canvassed the cemetery and located a total of four headstones that had been knocked over. Officers also found evidence that linked 39 year old Stoutweeda Larry, of Sikeston, to the incident.

Larry has been charged with destruction of property through Sikeston Municipal Court and her bond was set at $850. 


PIPE REPLACEMENT TO FORCE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF STODDARD COUNTY ROAD

A pipe replacement will force the temporary closure of a Stoddard County road. 

Route CC in Stoddard County will be closed between Route 114 and Route HH as Missouri Department of Transportation crews replace a culvert under the roadway. 

Work is scheduled to take place from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm daily through Wednesday, February 28th. 


SHOULDER REPAIRS TO BEGIN TODAY ON ROUTE 142 IN BUTLER COUNTY

Route 142 in Butler County will be reduced to one lane for the rest of this week as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform edge rut repairs.

According to MoDOT, the section of roadway to be reduced is located from Cravens Road to Route 158.

Weather permitting, work will performed today through Friday from 7 am to 4 pm daily.
