SUSPECT IN CUSTODY IN MALDEN HOMICIDE CASE

Authorities in Malden say a homicide suspect is in custody.

30 year old David Lee Anderson was wanted in connection to the Wednesday shooting death of Geoffrey Wright.

Officials with the Malden Police Department say, officers responded to a shots fired call, were they found an unresponsive male in a vehicle.

Anderson was located at a residence in Hayti Heights and is facing charges of 1st degree murder, armed criminal action, and unlawful possession of a firearm. He is being held in the Dunklin County Jail.

 

ASPHALT OVERLAY IN BUTLER AND STODDARD COUNTIES TO BEGIN ON MONDAY

Route 51 and Route B in Butler and Stoddard Countries will be reduced to one lane with a 12-foot width restriction beginning on Monday as contractor crews perform shoulder widening and asphalt overlay.

According to MoDot, the section of roadway is located between the on/off ramps at Route 51/60 in Stoddard County to Business 60 in Butler County.

 Weather permitting, work will take place Monday, April 2nd through Thursday, May 17th from 6 am to 6 pm daily.

 

SIXTH ANNUAL PULL TAB DRIVE EVENT SCHEDULED FOR EARLY NEXT MONTH

The 6th Annual Pull Tab Drive for Brandon Scott and Bryor Lacey has been scheduled for early next month.

The drive will be held from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, April 7th at the American Legion on PP Highway in Poplar Bluff.

The event will feature a sale of bake goods; pull tab bracelets, a silent auction, and a raffle.

SIKESTON MAN ARRESTED ON FELONY METH CHARGE IN NEW MADRID COUNTY

A Sikeston man was taken into custody Thursday morning in New Madrid County on a felony drug charges.

According to authorities, 36 year old Curtis Cole was arrested at around 3:30 am on a charge of felony possession of methamphetamine.

He is also facing charges of felony possession of marijuana and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

Following the arrest, Cole was held at the New Madrid County Jail.

 

ROUTE FF IN STODDARD COUNTY REDUCED FOR PARTIAL OVERLAY

Route FF in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane as Missouri Department of Transportation crews partially overlay the roadway.

The section of roadway to be reduced is located from Route E to Route 114.

According to MoDot, work will take place Tuesday, April 3 through Wednesday, April 4 from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.

 

10TH ANNUAL CAROLINE PERKINS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUNDRAISER SCHEDULED FOR TODAY

The 10th Annual Caroline Perkins Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser is set to begin today.

The event will be held from 6 am to 6 pm today and 6 am to noon tomorrow at the Old Lone Hill School Building at the end of Highway F off Highway 160.

There will be a large multi-family indoor yard sale as well as a bake sale and a raffle for a homemade quilt.

All proceeds from the event go to fund the Caroline Perkins Memorial Scholarship.

 

POPLAR BLUFF CHURCH TO HOST EASTER FUN FEST THIS WEEKEND

An egg hunt has been scheduled for this weekend at a Poplar Bluff church.

The Cornerstone Tabernacle will be hosting Easter Fun Fest this Saturday.

There will be egg hunts, crafts, prizes, games, and music held from 2 pm to 5 pm at the Cornerstone Tabernacle located at 3516 North Westwood in Poplar Bluff.
