ARKANSAS MAN FACING FELONY METH CHARGE OUT OF BUTLER COUNTY

A Northeast Arkansas man is facing a felony meth charge following his arrest over the weekend in Butler County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 34 year old Quinton Williams, of Blytheville, was arrested shortly before 11 pm Saturday night on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute for methamphetamine.

Williams is also facing a charge of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Following his arrest, Williams was held at the Butler County Jail.

 

SUSPECT AT LARGE FOLLOWING PURSUIT WITH POLICE IN KENNETT

A suspect is at large following a pursuit with authorities in Kennett.

According to the Kennett Police Department, at around 8:50 PM Saturday night, officers observed a vehicle with an occupant that was wanted by the Malden Police Department in regards to an armed robbery.

As officers attempted to stop the vehicle, it failed to yield and a pursuit ensued. Shortly after the pursuit began, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

Officials say the driver has been identified, but was not located.

 

THIRD TORNADO CONFIRMED TO HAVE TOUCHED DOWN IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI LAST WEEK

A third tornado has been confirmed to have touched down in Southeast Missouri during the storms that crossed the area last Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service, an EF-0 tornado touched down at 5:58 pm, four miles southeast of Penermon in Stoddard County and lifted a half mile southeast of Baker.

Several windows were broken, with partial loss of metal roof covering and the top broken off of a chimney on a home. Several trees also had large limbs broken off and several wooden power poles were blown partially over as well.

The National Weather Service had previously confirmed that Tornados had touched down in New Madrid and Dunklin County during Tuesday’s storms.

 

POPLAR BLUFF WOMAN ARRESTED ON MULTIPLE FELONY DRUG RELATED CHARGES

Authorities in Butler County have arrested a Poplar Bluff woman on multiple felony drug related charges.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 20 year old Kyra Taylor was taken into custody Saturday night on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and possession of a controlled substance in a jail facility.

Officials say that Taylor was held at the Butler County Jail.

 

ROUTE FF IN STODDARD COUNTY WILL BE REDUCED TO ONE LANE TODAY AND TOMORROW

Route FF in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane early this week as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs. 

Officials say that the work zone will be located between Route E and Route 114.                 

Weather permitting, work will take place today and tomorrow from 6:30 am to 4:30 pm each day.

 

INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY AFTER OFFICER SHOOTS AND KILLS PARAGOULD MAN

Authorities in Arkansas say that an investigation has been started after an officer involved shooting resulted in the death of a Paragould man.

According to the Arkansas State Police, Searcy County Sheriff’s Department Deputies and Correctional Officers of the Arkansas Department of Correction had been involved in a manhunt about two miles north of Marshall when the shooting occurred at approximately 12:30 Friday afternoon.

Local law enforcement officers began the search for 23 year old Daniel Yielding on Thursday based on an outstanding warrant for a parole violation and reports of Yielding being seen fleeing a local residence.

Deputies and state correction officers were continuing the search Friday when Yielding was spotted in a wooded area armed with a knife. ADC personnel ordered the parolee to drop the knife.

Yielding reportedly refused to comply with the order and at that time moved toward an ADC officer who fired his gun as Yielding advanced.

 

RIPLEY COUNTY TO RECEIVE OVER $15,000 FOR SERVICES AND HOUSING FOR HOMELESS VETERANS

Ripley County will be receiving over $15,000 to provide access to affordable housing and supportive services for homeless veterans.

United States Senator Claire McCaskill tells KWOC News that the Ripley County Public Housing Agency has been awarded $15,070 through the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Veterans Affairs Supporting Housing program.

The program combines rental assistance for homeless veterans and their families and case management and clinical services provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The award was part of over $278,000 in funding that was awarded across the state.
