SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK IN CARTER COUNTY LEAVES ONE DEAD

An Ellsinore man has died from injuries he received in a wreck early Saturday morning.

According to authorities, 22 year old Bryan Parker was driving on US Highway 60 in Carter County when his vehicle travelled off the side of the roadway, struck a post, and then overturned in a ditch.

Parker was reportedly not wearing a safety device and was ejected during the wreck.

He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

 

MINOR KILLED IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS WRECK

A minor has died following a wreck in Northeast Arkansas over the weekend.

According to the Arkansas State Police, the wreck occurred shortly after 1:30 am Saturday morning on Clay County Road 181 in the Corning area.

The vehicle involved failed to negotiate a curve and rolled over, ejecting the driver.

The minor driver, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene by Clay County Coroner Jarred Lowe.

 

ONE KILLED IN STODDARD COUNTY WRECK

A Bertrand man has died following a single vehicle wreck in Stoddard County.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 45 year old Frank Best was driving on US Highway 60 Saturday night when his vehicle ran off the side of the road and struck an embankment.

Best was pronounced dead at the scene by Stoddard County Coroner Kenny Pope.

 

SIX TAKEN INTO CUSTODY ON COCAINE CHARGE IN CARTER COUNTY

Six people were taken into custody over the weekend in Carter County on a cocaine charge.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the six people were all St. Louis residents and each arrested at 4:30 pm Saturday on a charge of possession of a controlled substance - cocaine.

The arrestees were transported to the Carter County Sheriff’s Office following the arrest.

WAYNE COUNTY ROAD SET TO BE CLOSED THROUGH WEDNESDAY

Route E in Wayne County will be closed as starting today so crews can overlay the road with asphalt.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, the work zone will be located from Route 67 to Route C.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 8 am to 6 pm daily through Wednesday.

 

MAN ARRESTED AFTER MARIJUANA FOUND IN WAYNE COUNTY CAVE

Authorities in Wayne County say that an area man has been arrested after marijuana was found in a cave.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, the Sheriff's department, the SEMO Drug Task Force, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol recently executed a search warrant at Rebel cave in Silva.

Inside the cave, officers seized approximately one half of a pound of marijuana, processed and packaged for sale.

Officials say that Scott Peterson, of Patterson, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

Peterson was booked and released on a $25,000 bond.

 

THREE CHILDREN FOUND IN UNATTENDED VEHICLE, MOTHER ARRESTED

A Caruthersville woman has been taken into custody after her young children were found by themselves in a vehicle.

Officials with the Kennett Police Department tell KWOC News that shortly after 11 am on Thursday, officers were dispatched to an area business were they found a vehicle running in the parking lot with three children, ages 1, 4, and 7, inside, unattended.

The children’s mother had reportedly been inside the store for several minutes. Officials say that officers arrested 27 year old Diana Truss, of Caruthersville, for three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child 1st Degree.

Truss was also arrested on two active state of Missouri warrants issued out of New Madrid County.

 

TWO ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES IN BUTLER COUNTY

Two men were each arrested Friday evening in Butler County on a meth charge.

According to authorities, 31 year old Steven Counts, of Puxico, and 29 year old Darren Bishop, of Poplar Bluff, were each taken into custody shortly after 6 pm Friday on charges of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Counts is also reportedly facing a charge of possession of a controlled substance for hydrocodone.

Following their arrest, both men were held at the Butler County Jail.
