TRAIN HITS VEHICLE IN DUNKLIN COUNTY LEAVING ONE DEAD

One man is dead after his vehicle was hit by a train Monday morning.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 59 year old Jeffery Rees, of Holcomb, was travelling on Dunklin County Road 301 when he pulled into the path of the train.

Rees was pronounced dead at the scene by Dunklin County Coroner James Powell.

 

POSSIBLE HEPATITIS A EXPOSURE AT ANOTHER PARAGOULD RESTURAUNT

Health officials in Arkansas say there has been a possible Hepatitis A exposure at another Paragould restaurant.

The Arkansas Department of Health is warning of a possible hepatitis A exposure after an employee of the Ironhorse Barbeque, at 2108 Linwood Drive in Paragould, tested positive for the virus.

Anyone who ate at the facility from July 25th to August 10th should seek vaccination immediately if they have never been vaccinated against Hepatitis A or are unsure of their vaccination status.

The Hepatitis A vaccine will be available at multiple clinics this week in Paragould.

Clinics will be held today, from 8 am to 4:30 pm at the Greene County Health Unit, on Wednesday from 7 am to 7 pm at the Paragould Community Center, and on Thursday and Friday from 7 am to 7 pm at the Eastside Baptist Church.

 

OPEN HOUSES SET FOR TODAY IN THE POPLAR BLUFF R-1 SCHOOL DISTRICT

Parents in Poplar Bluff will have the opportunity to learn more about the schools their children will be attending this fall during a series of open houses scheduled for this week.

Today the 8th grade open house will be held at the Junior High and 4th grade orientation is set for the Middle School. The Early Childhood Parent Orientation is also scheduled for today.

The four elementary schools will be holding their Open Houses tomorrow and classes are set to begin in the Poplar Bluff School District on Thursday.

PARAGOULD MAN IN CUSTDOY IN CONNECTION TO SHOOTING

A Paragould man is in custody in connection to a fatal shooting last week.

47 year old Michael Price was arrested following the death of Melana Price at a Paragould residence on Friday. The two had reportedly been having an argument prior to the incident.

Price’s bond was set at one million dollars and he was held at the Greene County Detention Center.

 

AUTHORITIES INVESTIGATING SHOOTING INCIDENT IN KENNETT

Authorities in Kennett are investigating a shooting at an area residence.

According to the Kennett Police Department, shortly after 12:30 pm Sunday afternoon, officers were dispatched to the 700 block of South Jackson Street where they learned that a residence had been shot numerous times.

At the scene, officers located several bullet projectiles that had struck and entered the home. The tenants, who were not home at the time of the incident, were still in the process of moving in and said they did not know who may have been attempting to harm them.

Officials say the shooting is under investigation.

 

72nd ANNUAL PUXICO VFW HOMECOMING TO BEGIN TODAY

A Southeast Missouri community will be celebrating their 72nd annual homecoming beginning today.

The Annual Puxico VFW Homecoming will be held today through Saturday. Events scheduled for tonight include the Little Miss Puxico and Miss Puxico contests.

According to the Puxico Police Department, during the homecoming State Route PP from State Highway 51 to North Bedford Street will be closed to all traffic. The 100 blocks of North and South Hickman Streets will also be restricted to emergency vehicle and emergency services personnel parking only.

 

ASPHALT OVERLAY TO CAUSE DELAYS ON ROUTE 80 THROUGH THE END OF THE MONTH

Route 80 New Madrid and Mississippi Counties will be reduced with a 10-foot width restriction through the end of the month as contractor crews perform an asphalt overlay.

Officials with the Missouri Department of Transportation tell KWOC News that the section of roadway to be reduced is located between Route 61 and Route 102.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 6 am to 7 pm daily through Friday, August 31st.
