DONIPHAN WOMAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK

An area woman was seriously injured Thursday morning in a single vehicle wreck in Carter County.

According to the Highway Patrol, 40 year old Celena Dobbins, of Doniphan, was driving on Route V in the Ellsinore area when her vehicle traveled off the side of the roadway and overturned.

Dobbins suffered serious injuries in the wreck and was transported by ambulance to a Poplar Bluff hospital.

TWO ARRESTED FOR METHAMPHETAMINE IN RIPLEY COUNTY

Two Doniphan men were taken into custody Thursday morning in Ripley County on a methamphetamine charge.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 57 year old Michael Meadors and 54 year old Timothy Meadors were each arrested at around 10:30 am on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.

Officials say that both men are also facing a charge of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

MAN FLOWN TO MEMPHIS HOSPITAL AFTER SEMI OVERTURNS IN PEMISCOT COUNTY

A New Madrid man was flown to an area hospital Thursday after a semi he was driving overturned in Pemiscot County.

According to authorities, 46 year old Albert Purser was driving on Route B when his vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway, struck an embankment, and then overturned.

Purser received serious injuries in the wreck and was flown to a Memphis hospital.

SCREENING APPOINTMENTS BEING ACCEPTED FOR POPLAR BLUFF EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER

The Poplar Bluff Early Childhood Center is accepting screening appointments for the 2019-2020 school year.

If you are a parent in the Poplar Bluff R-1 School District and have a child who will be three or four years old on July 31st, you can call 573-785-6803 for more information about having your child screened.

The next screenings will be held by appointment only on Friday, March 1st. Officials say that you must have your child’s social security number available when calling to make an appointment.

RUSSIAN NATIONAL BALLET TO PERFORM IN POPLAR BLUFF LATER THIS MONTH

The Russian National Ballet will be performing later this month in Poplar Bluff.

The world-famous Moscow-based ballet troupe will be performing Cinderella on January 28th at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center on the campus of Three Rivers College.

The show is scheduled to begin at 7 pm.

Tickets are available for $15 each at the Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce, the Three Rivers Student Accounts Office, and online at trcc.edu/tinnin. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door.

PUBLIC MEETING SET FOR NEXT WEEK TO DISCUSS TRANSPORTATION ISSUES IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

The Ozark Foothills Regional Planning Commission has announced that a public meeting of the Transportation Advisory Committee has been set for next week.

Officials say that the meeting has been scheduled for 6 pm on January 10th at the Float Stream restaurant in Van Buren.

The meeting will be to discuss transportation issues in Butler, Carter, Reynolds, Ripley, and Wayne Counties.
