DONIPHAN WOMAN FACING MULTIPLE FELONY CHARGES

Authorities in Ripley County have arrested a Doniphan woman on multiple felony charges.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 32 year old Jacquelyn Young was taken into custody Monday afternoon on a felony charge of assault on a law enforcement officer.

Young is also facing a charge of felony possession of a controlled substance for methamphetamine.

WOMAN FLOWN TO ST. LOUIS HOSPITAL FOLLOWING BOAT WRECK ON CURRENT RIVER

A woman has been transported to an area hospital in connection to a boat wreck Sunday evening in Southeast Missouri.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred on Current River, 10 miles west of Ellington, when a boat struck a submerged rock.

One of the occupants, a 38 year old woman from Ellington, was ejected from the vessel. The woman suffered moderate injuries and was flown to a St. Louis hospital.

MAJOR DISASTER DECLARATION EXPANDED TO TWO SOUTHEAST MISSOURI COUNTIES

Two Southeast Missouri counties have been approved for assistance in recovering from the severe storms and flooding that occurred earlier this year.

According to Missouri Governor Michael Parson, the Federal Emergency Management Agency has approved Missouri’s request to expand the federal major disaster declaration for the state to include assistance for local governments and nonprofit agencies in 14 additional counties, including Dunklin and Scott Counties.

The approval means the counties will be eligible to receive reimbursements for emergency response costs and repairs to roads, bridges, and other infrastructure as a result of the flooding and storms that occurred from April 29th to July 5th.

A total of 82 Missouri counties and the City of St. Louis have been approved for the declaration.

TOTAL OF SIX EARTHQUAKES RECORDED MONDAY IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

Officials say that a total of six earthquakes were recorded Monday in Southeast Missouri.

According to the United States Geological Survey, a magnitude 2.6 earthquake started the sequence at 11:18 am. This was followed by quakes with magnitudes of 1.1, 2.7, 1.8, and 2.7 over the following 40 minutes.

Approximately three and a half hours later, a magnitude 2.5 earthquake was recorded.

USGS officials say that all six earthquakes were centered between two and four miles southwest of Lilbourn.

WOMAN FACING CHARGE OF POSSESSION OF METHAMPHETAMINE FOLLOWING ARREST IN MALDEN

An area woman was arrested Monday on a drug charge in Malden.

According to the Malden Police Department, 24 year old Sahara Cobb, of Bernie, was taken into custody on a charge of possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine.

A felony warrant has been obtained with a $25,000 cash or surety bond.

Cobb was held at the Malden City Jail awaiting transport to the Dunklin County Justice Center.

DEXTER POLICE DEPARTMENT UNDER CONSTRUCTION

An area police department’s front lobby is under construction.

Construction began Monday at the Dexter Police Department and officials say it will continue for the next five to six weeks.
