SEARCH UNDERWAY FOR MISSING BOATER IN CLAY COUNTY
Authorities in Northeast Arkansas are searching for a missing boater.
According to Clay County Sheriff Terry Miller, 911 received a call reporting that a boater was missing near Holland’s Lodge on the Black River.
Multiple agencies, including the Clay County Emergency Task Force and Arkansas Game and Fish have been assisting in the search since 5 pm Sunday evening.
Anyone who has information about the missing boater, or his whereabouts, is asked to contact the Clay County Sheriff’s Department at 870-598-2270.
ARREST MADE FOLLOWING SHOOTING IN POPLAR BLUFF
A suspect has been taken into custody following a drive by shooting in Poplar Bluff.
Few details have been made available about the incident that occurred Sunday evening in the Eighth Street area.
The victim received non life-threatening injuries. The suspect, whose name was not available, was arrested later on Sunday.
POLICE APPREHEND MAN WHO ESCAPED LAST WEEK
Authorities in Poplar Bluff have apprehended a man who escaped from custody last week.
Officials with the Poplar Bluff Police Department announced on Saturday that Colton Howell had been arrested. Officials say that help from the public led to the arrest.
Howell had been arrested last Wednesday before escaping from a police vehicle.
TEENAGER KILLED IN ATV WRECK IN REYNOLDS COUNTY
A Piedmont teenager was killed in an ATV wreck Friday morning.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 16 year old male was driving an ATV near Annapolis when his vehicle entered a low water crossing and overturned.
The driver, who was reportedly not wearing a safety device, was ejected during the wreck.
He was later pronounced dead at an area hospital by Reynolds County Coroner Jeff McSpadden.
MAN FLOWN TO MEMPHIS HOSPITAL FOLLOWING BUTLER COUNTY WRECK
A Missouri man was injured over the weekend in a wreck north of Poplar Bluff.
According to authorities, a vehicle was travelling on Butler County Road 410 Saturday night, when it ran off the side of the road and struck a tree.
A 26 year old passenger from Cedar Hill was seriously injured in the wreck and flown to a Memphis hospital. No injuries were listed for the driver of the vehicle.
MAN FACING METHAMPHETAMINE CHARGE FOLLOWING ARREST IN BUTLER COUNTY
An area man was taken into custody over the weekend on a felony methamphetamine charge.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 42 year old Randy Hubbard, of Doniphan, was arrested on Saturday for felony possession of controlled substance - methamphetamine.
Hubbard is also facing marijuana and drug paraphernalia related charges.
HEARING SCHEDULED FOR TODAY TO DISCUSS DISASTER RECOVERY GRANT IN CARTER COUNTY
A public hearing has been scheduled for this morning to discuss a possible disaster recovery grant in Carter County.
According to Carter County Clerk Leona Stephens, the county will hold the hearing at 9:30 am at the Carter County Clerk’s Office.
The hearing is to discuss the County’s submission of an application for the Fiscal Year 2019 Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery program.
Stephens says the County is proposing to participate in a voluntary buyout and acquisition program, relocation and tenant relocation assistance, and down payment assistance. The area to be addressed includes designated buyout zones across the county, including within the City of Van Buren.
All citizens, including those in the targeted area, are encouraged to attend and comment on the proposed activities.
