SEVERE WEATHER STRIKES AREA MONDAY MORNING
A line of storms crossed Southeast Missouri and Northeast Arkansas overnight and into this morning resulting in multiple severe thunderstorm warnings as well as a tornado warning.
According to the National Weather Service, the tornado warning was for western Carter County after a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 9 miles southwest of Birch Tree shortly after 3 am.
Severe Thunderstorm warnings were also issued throughout the night in both Southeast Missouri and Northeast Arkansas.
There has been reports of roof damage to homes between Doniphan and Gatewood in Ripley County, as well as over 200 residences being without power in Clay County Arkansas.
TRAVEL CENTER IN PUXICO BROKEN INTO ON SATURDAY
A gas station in Puxico was broken into on Saturday afternoon.
According to the Puxico Police Department, a Grab N’ Go station was broken into around 1:30.
The suspect has been taken into custody, and was transported to the Stoddard County Jail following their arrest.
At this time the suspects name has not been released pending formal charges by the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department.
CORNING HARVEST FESTIVAL SCHEDULED FOR THIS WEEKEND
There will be a Harvest Festival on Saturday in Corning.
The festival will include activities such as arts and crafts, a 5k run, antique cars and machinery, a kid’s area, and commercial exhibit.
The event will be held in Wynn Park from 9 am to 5 pm.
ENDANGERED MISSING PERSON HAS BEEN FOUND
Updating a story we brought to you last week, an endangered person advisory for a Howell County teenager has been cancelled.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 15 year old Destiney Layman, from Mountain View had last been seen at a bus stop on October 11th. She was believed to have left voluntarily searching for her biological father in the Poplar Bluff area.
The Howell County Sheriff’s Department says that Layman has been located safe and the endangered person advisory has been cancelled.
GREENE COUNTY MAN ARRESTED ON SUSPICION OF AGGRAVATED ASSAULT AND INCEST CHARGE
A Greene County man was arrested on Friday on suspicion of aggravated assault and incest.
According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, 42 year old Michael Dye, of Paragould, was taken into custody after an investigation by the department.
The investigation led to a girl being found in a house on Greene County Road 395, who had been allegedly choked with a rope tied around her neck by Dye after an argument, according to an interview with her by Greene County officials.
She has been reported as being the niece of Dye, and she had admitted to having sexual intercourse with him several times while living in a trailer on her mothers’ property.
POPLAR BLUFF LEGACY HOSPICE HOSTING LUNCHEON NEXT WEEK
The Legacy Hospice of Poplar Bluff will host a bereavement luncheon next weekend.
This event is being held to honor deceased family members, and to offer support to those they left behind, and will be held on November 2nd, from 11 am to 2 pm at Fellowship Baptist Church, located on 3581 Highway 67 North.
