SNOW CAUSES NUMEROUS SCHOOL CANCELLATIONS ACROSS SOUTHEAST MISSOURI 

Numerous schools across Southeast Missouri have been called off today due to snow showers that hit our area yesterday and early this morning.  

Students in over 35 schools will have the day off today. Few official snow fall reports have come in as of press time, but according to the National Weather Service, Dexter had received two and a half inches of snow as of 8:30 pm last night and Doniphan had one inch as of 10 pm.

KENNET FIRE DEPARTMENT DISPATCHED FOR HOUSE FIRE ON MONDAY 

A structure fire was reported on Monday in Kennett. 

The Kennett Police Department tells KWOC News that the fire broke out in the house around the morning hours, and the total damage and cause of the fire is under investigation. 

More information will be available as the investigation proceeds.

LOCAL BUSINESS HOSTING HOLIDAY PHOTOS WITH FOSTER CHILDREN PROGRAM 

A business in Poplar Bluff will be hosting a holiday photo event in cooperation with a foster care program. 

The Photos with Santa event will be held by Ozark Meats with Foster Adopt Connect, and encourages families to donate a toy or personal item for abused and neglected children. Items that are wanted most are toys, socks, and underwear for toddlers and teens. 

The event will be held on December 7th from 2 to 4 pm.

INJURIES REPORTED FOLLOWING VEHICLE CRASH IN NEW MADRID COUNTY 

Injuries were reported after a crash occurred in New Madrid County on Monday. 

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on US Route 61, where a vehicle slid on the snow covered roadway and struck another vehicle. 

The driver of the vehicle received some injuries, and was transported to a Sikeston Hospital.

MISSOURI COLD WEATHER RULE IS NOW IN EFFECT 

Missouri’s Cold Weather Rule came into effect on Monday. 

According to the Missouri Public Service Commission, the rule will be in effect now until March 31st of 2020, and that those in need of assistance with their heating bills are free to access one of their multiple programs.

PUXICO POLICE DEPARTMENT RAFFLING OFF THANKSGIVING DINNER

The Puxico Police Department is raffling off a Thanksgiving dinner in Advance. 

According to the Department, the meal being raffled is a fully cooked Thanksgiving dinner, consisting of a turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, dressing, corn, and rolls. 

Tickets for the raffle are $1 each, six for $5, or twelve for $10, and are available at the police department. The winner will be announced on Sunday, November 24th.
