CLAY COUNTY MAN SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS ON ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGE
A Clay County man was sentenced to 20 years on an attempted murder charge.
According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, 57 year old Randy Jones, of Rector, was sentenced after he entered a negotiated pleaded guilty to an attempted first-degree murder charge.
Jones attempted to stab a home resident with a hunting knife in July, instead stabbing a woman and seriously injuring her when she attempted to intervene.
He was sent to the Greene County Detention Center after his sentencing, and was set to be transferred to the Arkansas Department of Correction.
VEHICLE ACCIDENT IN BUTLER COUNTY LEADS TO SERIOUS INJURIES
A vehicle crash occurred in Butler County on Tuesday, leading to serious injuries.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on Co Road 467, 1 mile west of Poplar Bluff. The crash involved a vehicle running off the roadway, striking a driveway and overturning.
The driver of the vehicle, a Doniphan resident, and a passenger, a Poplar Bluff resident, both received serious injuries, and were transported by ambulance to a Poplar Bluff hospital.
POPLAR BLUFF HIGH SCHOOL HOLDING COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING EVENT
The Poplar Bluff R-I High School will be holding their annual Community Thanksgiving event next week.
The School will be holding the event on Tuesday, and it will feature food, music, and children activities, and is open to anyone who wants to attend.
The event will be held from 5 to 7 pm in the high school cafeteria.
INJURIES REPORTED FOLLOWING VEHICLE CRASH IN STODDARD COUNTY
A vehicle crash involving two juveniles was reported on Tuesday in Stoddard County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol tells KWOC News that the crash occurred on Co. Road 237, half a mile North of Highway AC, when the vehicle crossed the center of the road and struck another vehicle head on.
The driver of the vehicle received moderate injuries, and an occupant received serious injuries, both juveniles. They were both transported to a Cape Girardeau hospital following the crash.
MISSOURI DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE COMING TO POPLAR BLUFF THIS WEEK
The Missouri Department of Revenue will be having a mobile unit come to Poplar Bluff on Friday.
The unit will be in town from 8 am to 5 pm, and will assist people with tax, motor vehicle and driver licensing questioned, and staff will assist in answering questions on tax credits, returns, W-4 forms, and more.
The mobile unit will be located at the Family Support Division Resource Center at 1903 Northwood Drive.
LOCAL COMMUNITY CENTER HOSTING WINTER FAIR
A local community center will be hosting a winter fair this month.
The Northside Community Center will be holding the event on November 30th from 9 am to 3 pm, and will feature vendors, food, and purchasable goods.
The Community Center is located at 1450 Garfield Street, Poplar Bluff, and all funds earned from the event will be going to benefit the Community Center.
