POPLAR BLUFF RESIDENT SENTENCED ON ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF AMMUNITION
A Poplar Bluff resident was sentenced to federal prison on Monday for illegal possession of ammunition.
40 year old Shawn Daggett, of Poplar Bluff, was sentenced to nine years in federal prison on illegal possession of ammunition, after he had previously been convicted of felony unlawful use of a weapon in Butler County in 2004, prohibiting him from possessing ammunition.
He was also previously charged on manufacturing a controlled substance in Wayne County in 2009.
Daggett was taken into custody after a search of his home revealed over 20 rounds of multiple types of ammo.
POPLAR BLUFF HIGH SCHOOL HOSTING FAFSA FRENZY NEXT MONTH
The Poplar Bluff High School will be hosting their FAFSA Frenzy next month.
The event will be held to assist seniors with their free application for federal student aid, and will be followed by a scholarship workshop, with additional incentives for completing the activities.
The FAFSA Frenzy will be held on December 5th from 3 to 5:30 pm, and the workshop will be held until 7 pm, with the event officially ending at 8 pm. For more information, visit the Poplar Bluff High School Facebook page.
ROAD WORK SCHEDULED FOR TODAY IN STODDARD COUNTY
There is road work scheduled for today in Stoddard County.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, Route F in Stoddard County will be reduced as crews replace the culvert pipe under the roadway.
The work is scheduled to take place today from 7:30 am to 3 pm, with more information available at MoDot.Org.
TWO ARRESTED IN CARTER COUNTY ON POSSESSION OF MULTIPLE DRUGS
Two were taken into custody on Monday in Carter County on possession of multiple drugs.
Carter County Sheriff Richard Stephens tells KWOC News that two unnamed individuals, a man and a woman, were arrested after a K9 unit discovered Hydrocodone, Methamphetamine, Marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
The investigation was held by Carter County officials, the NPS, and the Van Buren Police Department.
WAPPAPELLO LAKE ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS HOSTING FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS EVENT
The US Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Wappapello will be hosting their Festival of Lights event next week.
The event will allow local businesses access to free advertising for the duration of the event by decorating a campsite. To register and participate, call the Corps Management Office at 573-222-8562.

THANKSGIVING DINNER EVENT TO BE HELD AT POPLAR BLUFF HIGH SCHOOL
A Thanksgiving dinner event is scheduled to be held at the Poplar Bluff High-school today.
The event will feature a dinner of turkey, desserts, and sides, and will be held from 5 to 7 pm at the high-school’s cafeteria.
The school is also accepting donations of kid’s gloves, hats, socks, scarves, and monetary donations for a charity donation.
