TWO ARRESTED IN DRUG TRAFFICKING OPERATION IN STODDARD COUNTY 

Two were taken into custody in Stoddard County after a search revealed a drug trafficking operation. 

Stoddard County Sheriff Carl Hefner tells KWOC News that an ongoing investigation on a drug trafficking operation led to the search of a motel room in Dexter, where just under 550 grams of methamphetamine, packaging materials, marijuana and pills were discovered. 

There was also a .25 caliber semi-automatic handgun, as well as ammunition, that were discovered along with the drugs. 

The search led to the arrests of 37 year old Tracy Fleming, of Dexter, and 25 year old Thomas Christian, of Bloomfield. They were both charged with felony trafficking drugs – 2nd degree, and felony unlawful use of a weapon.

INTERSECTION CLOSING IN CITY OF POPLAR BLUFF NEXT MONTH 

There will be an intersection closing in Poplar Bluff next month. 

According to the Poplar Bluff Street Department, the old intersection portion of Channon at Barron Road will be closing down around December 2nd.

EARTHQUAKE REPORTED IN NEW MADRID COUNTY ON TUESDAY 

An earthquake was reported in New Madrid County on Tuesday. 

According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake occurred early in the morning near Lilbourn and Marston. 

The earthquake registered at a magnitude of 2.0.

POPLAR BLUFF RESIDENT INJURED IN BUTLER COUNTY FOLLOWING VEHICLE CRASH  

A Poplar Bluff resident was injured in Butler County on Tuesday following a vehicle crash. 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol tells KWOC News that the crash occurred on Business 60 at Main Street in Poplar Bluff, where a vehicle pulled into oncoming traffic, then being struck by another vehicle. 

The driver of the vehicle, a Poplar Bluff citizen, received minor injuries, and was transported by ambulance to a Poplar Bluff hospital.

MAN ARRESTED IN NEW MADRID COUNTY ON WARRANTS AND DRUG CHARGE 

A man was taken into custody in New Madrid County on Tuesday on Warrants and a drug charge. 

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 49 year old Joe Moore, of Malden, was arrested on a felony warrant in Dunklin County on probation violation, a Malden Police Department warrant, and was also charged with possession of a controlled substance. 

He was transported to the Dunklin County Jail following his arrest.

SURVIVING THE HOLIDAYS SEMINAR TO BE HELD IN POPLAR BLUFF 

A Surviving the Holidays seminar is scheduled to be held in Poplar Bluff tomorrow. 

The program is for people who have lost loved ones in the past, and find it difficult to celebrate the holidays since their passing. It will discuss how to cope with grief, how to handle the many emotions faced, and tips for social events. 

The event will be held on Thursday at the Greater Poplar Bluff Area Chamber of Commerce at 1111 West Pine Boulevard from 6 to 8 pm.
