TWO ARRESTED IN CONNECTION TO METH SEIZURE IN CARTER COUNTY 

Two Carter County residents have been arrested following a methamphetamine investigation.  

Carter County Sheriff Richard Stephens tells KWOC News that over 54 grams of methamphetamine was recently recovered thanks to an investigation involving members of the Carter County Sheriff’s Office, the Van Buren Police Department, and the South Central Drug Task Force. 

The investigation also resulted in the issuance of a search warrant for a residence in Carter County. The search uncovered more of a crystal substance which field tested positive for methamphetamine, along with drug paraphernalia, scales, stolen property, and two firearms. 

A male and female were taken into custody. Their names were not released.

POPLAR BLUFF MAN ARRESTED FOR FAILURE TO REGISTER AS A SEX OFFENDER 

Authorities in Butler County have arrested an area man on a felony charge.  

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 36 year old Charles Korhammer was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon on a felony charge of failure to register as a sex offender.  

Following the arrest, Korhammer was held at the Butler County Jail.

CAMPGROUNDS TO BEGIN REOPENING THIS WEEK AT WAPPAPELLO LAKE 

With Spring on the way, campgrounds are set to begin reopening this week at Wappapello Lake.  

According to the US Army Corps of Engineers, the Redman East Campground will be reopening this Friday, March 15th.  

The Redman West Campground will open on March 29th, followed by People’s Creek Lower Campground on April 12, and the Greenville Campground later this year.

ONE SERIOUSLY INJURED AFTER VEHICLE STRIKES A BUILDING IN CATRON 

A man has been flown to an area hospital after a wreck early yesterday morning in New Madrid County.  

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 27 year old Joshua St. Mary, of New Madrid, was driving on Route D at Catron when his vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a building.  

St. Mary suffered serious injuries in the wreck and was flown to a Memphis hospital.

NO ONE INJURED FOLLOWING WATER RESCUE NEAR MATTHEWS 

A water rescue operation was conducted yesterday in the Matthews area.  

According to the Matthews Volunteer Fire Department, officers responded to a water rescue on Highway 80 at around 2:30 pm yesterday. No one was injured in the incident.  

Officials are asking motorists to not go around signage indicating that a road is flooded and closed.

CARTER AND REYNOLDS COUNTY ROAD TO BE CLOSED BEGINNING TODAY 

Route D in Carter and Reynolds Counties will be closed this week as Missouri Department of Transportation crews replace two pipes under the roadway. 

MoDOT officials tell KWOC News that the section of Route D to be closed is located between County Road 304 and County Road 620. 

Weather permitting; work will take place from 8 am to 4 pm daily through Friday.
