FIRST RESPONDERS BALL TO BE HELD IN MID SEPTEMBER
A date has been set for the 2nd Annual First Responders Ball.
The event will be held on Friday, September 13th at the Poplar Bluff Elks Lodge.
The ball will begin at 6 pm, with a steak dinner following at 7 pm. Tickets are $25 and all proceeds will benefit supporting heroes.
There will also be a silent auction and door prizes.
DRIVERS ASKED TO USE CAUTION IN THE AREA OF THE 61 MILE YARD SALE
With Labor Day weekend comes the return of the 61 mile yard sale and the Missouri Department of Transportation is urging drivers to be cautious.
Visitors and residents will be out in full force along Route 61 this weekend from Bloomsdale to Jackson for the yard sale.
MoDOT officials say they will be doing their part to bring a safety message to the forefront. Message boards will be in place along the route to alert drivers of the unusual traffic patterns and promote safe driving.
RIPLEY COUNTY FAIR TO KICK OFF ON SEPTEMBER 4TH
Multiple events have been scheduled for the Ripley County Fair in early September.
The fair will kick off on Wednesday September 4th, with the carnival and Miss Ripley County Fair Queen contest.
The fair will then continue through September 7th. Some other events planned include the car and tractor shows, truck and tractor pull, benefit auction, and Purman Fire Department Fish Fry.

AREA MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN BUTLER COUNTY WRECK
An area man was injured Wednesday evening in a single vehicle wreck in Southeast Missouri.
According to authorities, 26 year old Dylan Stricklin, of Poplar Bluff, was driving on County Road 441, in Butler County, when his vehicle ran off the roadway, struck an embankment, and then overturned.
Stricklin suffered serious injuries in the wreck and was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital.
RUN 4 THE ARTS SCHEDUELD FOR MID SEPTEMBER IN POPLAR BLUFF
A four mile run and walk will be held in mid-September to raise funds toward an endowed scholarship for music and art students at Three Rivers College.
The fourth annual “Run 4 the Arts” has been scheduled for 9 am on Saturday, September 14th at the TRC Poplar Bluff Campus.
The entry fee is $20 for an individual 4-mile run and walk or 1-mile walk. The entry fee includes a T-shirt, guaranteed for those who pre-register by August 30th.

DATES ANNOUNCED FOR PORTAGEVILLE SOYBEAN FESTIVAL
The dates have been announced for the 72nd Annual Soybean Festival in Portageville.
The event will be held from October 7th through the 12th.
