CARTER COUNTY DEPUTY INJURED IN SHOOTING TO RETURN HOME TODAY
A Carter County Deputy who was shot in the line of duty last month is set to return home today.
Deputy Brigg Pierson was shot while serving an eviction in the Van Buren area on August 16th.
Carter County Sheriff Richard Stephens is asking area residents to line the streets of Carter County for Deputy Pierson.
Stephens is anticipating his arrival in Ellsinore between 2 and 3 pm and Van Buren around 2:30 to 3:30 pm.
TWO YOUNG CHILDREN HONORED BY THE DEXTER POLICE DEPARTMENT
Two young brothers have been honored by an area police department for their effort in helping an injured woman.
According to the Dexter Police Department, nine year old Reese Waggoner and five year old Elijah Sisk were riding their bikes near their home on September 6th when they witnessed a neighbor fall into a rock filled drainage ditch.
The two boys climbed down into the ditch to check on the woman. Reese stayed with her while Elijah ran home to have his mother call 911.
After authorities arrived, the woman was transported to an area hospital where she was treated for serious injuries.
Police officials say that the fast actions of the two boys may have saved the woman’s life.
POPLAR BLUFF HIGH SCHOOL TRANSITION FAIR SCHEDULED FOR NEXT MONTH
The Poplar Bluff High School Transition fair has been scheduled for early next month.
The fair is for any student receiving special education services and their family members or advocates. The event will be about what they can expect after graduation.
The fair will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Thursday, October 3rd at the Poplar Bluff Senior High School and will include a meet and greet with community agencies, food, prizes, and more.
ONE DEAD, TWO INJURED FOLLOWING WRECK IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
One person was killed and two were injured following a wreck Wednesday night in Southeast Missouri.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 23 year old Calebe Hall, of Fredericktown, was driving on Route E, near Arcadia, when his vehicle ran off the side of the road and struck a tree. The vehicle then caught on fire.
Officials say that Hall was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two passengers in the vehicle suffered serious injuries in the wreck. One was flown to a St. Louis hospital, while the other was flown to a Cape Girardeau hospital.
2019 QULIN HOMECOMING TO BE HELD IN EARLY OCTOBER
The 28th Annual Qulin Homecoming has been scheduled for next month.
The festivities will kick off on Friday, October 4th with the Qulin Homecoming Pageant, starting at 6 pm at the Qulin Middle School Gym.
Events scheduled for October 5th include the parade, a corn hole tournament, and the pumpkin throwing contest.

THREE RIVERS COLLEGE AND SIKESTON JAYCEES TO HOST CHAMPIONSHIP COLLEGE RODEO
Three Rivers College and the Sikeston Jaycees will be hosting a Championship College Rodeo next month.
The rodeo will be held at the Art Saunders Arena at the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo grounds on October 3rd through the 5th.
The event is National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association-sanctioned and will feature top competitors from 15 college rodeo teams in the Association’s Ozark Region. The teams will be competing for top honors at the rodeo, regional ranking, and points to qualify for the College National Finals Rodeo in June 2020.
Tickets will be $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 4 through 12; and free for ages 3 and younger. Three Rivers students and employees can be admitted for $5 by showing their TRC ID.
