92ND STODDARD COUNTY FAIR BEGINS TODAY

The 92nd Stoddard County Fair is scheduled to begin today at the Stoddard County Fair Grounds in Dexter.

The fair will kick-off with the parade in downtown Dexter this evening at 5:30 pm. Youth games will also be held directly after the parade, for ages 12 and under.

The entertainment scheduled for 7 pm on the Main Stage is Rank Outsiders. Robinson Chainsaw Carvers will also be providing entertainment tonight as well.

WOMEN AWARE CONFERENCE TO BE HELD ON THURSDAY IN POPLAR BLUFF

Tickets are still available for the 32nd Annual Women Aware Conference in Poplar Bluff.

The keynote speakers will be Poplar Bluff Native Jennifer Webb and America’s Got Talent contestant Kechi Okwuchi.

The conference will also feature 16 breakout sessions covering family life, managing money, building your business, and more.

DEXTER MAN IN CUSTODY ON MULTIPLE WARRANTS

Authorities in Stoddard County say an area man was in custody this morning on multiple warrants.

Officials with the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department tell KWOC News that 33 year old Devin Myrick, of Dexter, was recently booked on a warrant for resisting or interfering with an arrest for a felony as well as a warrant for property damage 2nd degree.

The bond for the first warrant was set at $7,500 cash only; while the bond for the second warrant is $5,000. Officials say Myrick remained in custody as of this morning.

AREA MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY ON LEAVING THE SCENE CHARGE

A Poplar Bluff man was taken into custody Monday on multiple charges.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 41 year old Christopher Hays was arrested in Ripley County on a felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident.

He is also facing a charge of driving while revoked.

Following the arrest, Hays was held at the Ripley County Jail.

DATE SET FOR 46TH ANNUAL CHARITY WALK FOR KENNY ROGERS CHILDREN’S CENTER

A date has been set for the 46th Annual Charity Walk for the Kenny Rogers Children’s Center.

The event will be held on Saturday, October 12th at Beggs Family Farm in Sikeston beginning at 9 am.

Official say that the Charity Walk is an annual fundraising event that helps support therapy services for children with special needs in Southeast Missouri.

DEXTER MAN ARRESTED FOR FAILING TO REGISTER AS A SEX OFFENDER

Authorities in New Madrid County have arrested an area man on a felony charge.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 35 year old William Vaughn, of Dexter, was taken into custody Monday afternoon on a felony charge of failure to register as a sex offender.

Officials say Vaughn was held at the New Madrid County Jail.
