DONIPHAN WOMAN DIES FOLLOWING VEHICLE CRASH IN RIPLEY COUNTY

A Doniphan woman has died from injuries she received in a vehicle crash in Ripley County on Monday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on Missouri 123, near Doniphan, where a vehicle crossed the center of the roadway, striking another vehicle.

The driver of the struck vehicle, 63 year old Patricia Hart, died from her injuries, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the crossing vehicle received serious injuries, and was flown to a hospital in Cape Girardeau. An occupant of the same vehicle received moderate injuries, and was transported to a hospital in Poplar Bluff.

AG EXPO 2020 TO BE HELD ON JANUARY 31st AND FEBRUARY 1st 

We are less than one month away from Ag Expo 2020. 

This year’s Ag Expo will be held on January 31st and February 1st at the Black River Coliseum in Poplar Bluff. There will be over 100 agriculture related booths and exhibits at the expo along with many activities for the whole family. 

Other events will include the beauty pageant, FFA tractor driving contest, petting farm, old time auction, and cow milking contest. 

Admission will be $1 for adults and free for all college students and youth.

DRIVER EXAMINATION STATIONS STATEWIDE CLOSING FOR HOLIDAYS 

Driver Examination Stations across Missouri are scheduled to close later in the month.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol examination stations across the state are closing on January 20th in observance of Martin Luther King Day, and will resume operation on January 21st.

TICKETS FOR VALENTINES FOR VETERANS CONCERTS NOW BEING DISTRIBUTED 

Tickets for the Valentines for Veterans concert are being distributed.

The concert is hosted by the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center, and is held to give thanks to American veterans, and show the community awareness of the medical center.

The concert will feature soloist Neal McCoy, as well as several other activities to partake of before the main performance begins.

The event is scheduled to be held on February 14th at the Black River Coliseum in Poplar Bluff, and is set to begin at 6 pm.

MULTIPLE EARTHQUAKES REPORTED IN NEW MADRID COUNTY 

More earthquakes have been reported inside New Madrid County.

According to the US Geological Survey, four additional earthquakes struck New Madrid on Saturday, all of them originating around the same area in New Madrid – just outside of Marston.

The first earthquakes registered at a magnitude of 1.7, the second registered at 1.8, and the final two registered at 1.6 magnitude. All of the earthquakes had a depth of about 5 miles.

POPLAR BLUFF LIBRARY HOSTING PHOTO DISPLAY 

The Poplar Bluff Municipal Library will be hosting a special photo display throughout the month.

The display will feature entries and pictures from the Mingo Swamp Photography contest, with photos of the refuge and its various plants, animals, and scenery.

The library opens at 9 am through 7 pm on Mondays through Thursdays, 10 am to 5 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and 1 to 5 pm on Sundays.
