DRIVER KILLED FOLLOWING VEHICLE CRASH IN DUNKLIN COUNTY

A driver was killed after his vehicle crashed in Dunklin County on Thursday.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that the crash happened on County Road 552, west of Senath, where a vehicle traveled off the roadway and struck a ditch.

The driver, 66 year old Mickey Webb of Senath, who was not wearing a safety device at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene.

MAN ARRESTED IN RIPLEY COUNTY FOR METHAMPHETAMINE POSSESSION

A man was taken into custody in Ripley County on Thursday for methamphetamine possession.

According to the Ripley County Sheriff’s Department, 29 year old Devin Swigert, of Doniphan, was arrested on felony possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, as well as possession of marijuana, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, and two Ripley County warrants.

He was transported to the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office following his arrest.

MORE CASES OF COVID-19 REPORTED ACROSS MISSOURI; STATE TOTAL NOW OVER 139,000

Additional cases of the coronavirus have been reported across Missouri.

According to the Butler County Health Department, 34 new cases were reported on Thursday, bringing the County’s total to 950 cases. In Dunklin County, there are now 1,000 confirmed cases. Of them, 840 have recovered, while 149 are currently active.

The Stoddard County Public Health Center reports that 20 new cases were confirmed on Thursday, bringing the County’s total to 724. Of them, 132 are active, while 574 have recovered.

In Missouri, as of Thursday, there are now 139,164 cases of the virus in the state, while 2,395 deaths have been directly linked to the disease.

DEXTER MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN STODDARD COUNTY ON DRUG POSSESSION CHARGES

A Dexter man was arrested in Stoddard County on Thursday on drug possession charges.

According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 70 year old James Adams was booked on two counts of possession of a controlled substance – except 35 grams or less of marijuana/synthetic cannabinoid.

Following his arrest, he was transported to the Stoddard County Jail with a $15,000 cash only bond.

ROADWAY IN STODDARD COUNTY SCHEDULED FOR REDUCTION FOR REPAIRS

A roadway in Stoddard County is set to be reduced while undergoing repairs.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, a section of Route NN, from Route FF to County Road 531, will be reduced to one lane while MODOT crews perform pavement repairs.

The work is set to begin today, and will continue through October 19th, from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm daily.

FALL FESTIVAL TO BE HOSTED IN VAN BUREN OVER THE WEEKEND

The city of Van Buren will be hosting a Fall Festival over the weekend.

The festival will be held as an effort to raise money for community needs and repairs. It will feature shops with handcrafted works, a fine arts display and sale, music, food, a farmers market, and several activities such as horseback rides, pumpkin painting, and a haunted forest.
