SIKESTON MAN ARRESTED ON ENTICEMENT OF A CHILD AND PROMOTING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
A Sikeston man was taken into custody in Poplar Bluff on Wednesday on child pornography and enticement charges.
According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, 49 year old Vesteen Taylor, of Sikeston, was tracked by Cyber Crimes Detectives having a conversation with a 13 year old girl, during which he made remarks of a sexual nature, and went on to ask the girl for nude images.
Authorities intercepted Taylor after he made plans to meet with the girl in Poplar Bluff, and is currently waiting formal charges for enticement of a child, as well as promoting child pornography. He was later lodged at the Butler County Justice Center.
ARREST MADE IN DUNKLIN COUNTY FOLLOWING MURDER CHARGE
A man was taken into custody in Dunklin County on Wednesday after a dead body was located from a shooting report.
Officials with the Dunklin County Sheriff’s Department tell KWOC News that authorities received a call of a shooting at a house on County Road 630 in Arbyrd, where the body of 61 year old David Hodge was found lying in the entrance of the home.
Witness reports state that 26 year old Brant Winkle, of Hornersville, walked up to the house, knocked, and opened fire on Hodge when he answered the door before fleeing the scene.
After a thorough search by authorities, Winkle was located and detained in a cotton field near County Road 619, and was charged with 1st degree murder and armed criminal action before being transported to the Dunklin County Justice Center with no bond.
He has a court hearing set for today at Division 2 of the Dunklin County Circuit at 9 am.
TWO DRIVERS INJURED FOLLOWING VEHICLE COLLISION IN BUTLER COUNTY
Two drivers were injured following a vehicle collision in Butler County on Wednesday.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision took place on County Road 241, south of Qulin, where two vehicles collided at an uncontrolled intersection.
Both drivers suffered minor injuries, and were transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital for treatment.
SECOND ESCAPEE FROM SHANNON COUNTY TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN DONIPHAN
The missing suspect that escaped from police custody in Shannon County last month has been arrested.
Ripley County Sheriff Mike Barton tells KWOC News that 20 year old Hunter Vest, of Ellsinore, was taken into custody after officials located him hiding inside a home belonging to his relatives on Highway 21, north of Doniphan.
Vest escaped from police custody on September 27th alongside 25 year old Cameron Kenney, of Duncan. They overpowered and attacked a jailer before escaping from authorities.
Vest was transported to the Eminence Jail by officials with the Shannon County Sheriff’s Department, and is currently being held on multiple felony charges, including stealing and resisting arrest by fleeing, as well as creating substantial risk of serious injury or death to another person.
GIDEON MAN ARRESTED IN STODDARD COUNTY ON DRUG POSSESSION CHARGES
A Gideon man was taken into custody in Stoddard County on Wednesday drug possession charges.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 22 year old Bradley Wallace was booked on possession of a controlled substance – except 35 grams or less of marijuana/synthetic cannabinoid, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Following his arrest, he was transported to the Stoddard County Jail on a $5,000 cash only bond.
ROADWAY IN DUNKLIN COUNTY SCHEDULED FOR REDUCTION FOR REPAIRS
A roadway in Dunklin County will be reduced while undergoing repairs.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, various sections of Route 53, including areas from County Road 215 to County Road 206, as well as a stretch of road from County Road 322 to County Road 332, will be reduced to one lane while MODOT crews perform pavement repairs.
The work is set to take place today from 8 am to 4 pm.
